My Thoughts on the Whole Destiny 2 thing...
Here is my problem with this whole situation...If we have to start over again from scratch in destiny 2, for story reason's every thing we've been through would have been for nothing ( I know someone is gonna say so just say it already) what happened to the exo stranger and why was she watching over us, what happens when we find the queen's brother on mars, Who is Nakris and what are the consequences of us killing oryx.
So far in destiny we've seen that for every good thing we do something darker is waiting for us just around the corner. We just stopped the fallen from destroying the city and became Iron lords, why was Rasputin protecting Siva and what was he planning to use it for. For destiny 2 I'm not asking for all my Character's to port over, Just 1 so I can experience the classes and subclasses. ( if there are any) I feel like Rise of Iron is sort of a prelude for destiny 2. The wall that protected the city from being penetrated has been broken and one Fallen house has yet to make a move against the city, What if the Kings and the Devils are working together.
With Destiny 2 the things we have faced so far are insignificant compared to what's out there full solar systems taken by the darkness, More fallen houses, more hive gods, more vex constructs, and The cabal empire. There's still more for our Guardians to do, That's why I want my one of my character to carry over. Yes Destiny is a game, but it's also a story. Most games are about a certain character and their story, but destiny is about our Guardians and their stories.
Vault Raiders, god slayers, House Breakers, Hive Bane's, Iron Lords, And Maybe even Slayer's of the Darkness. it's something I want my character that I made in Destiny to experience in Destiny 2, not every one will agree but this is MY opinion and I won't let anyone tell me otherwise.

1 ReplyI'm not really digging the fresh start idea either. If our characters' stories don't continue until we see the end of this war against the Darkness that they've contributed so much towards, I'm going to be severely disappointed. Furthermore, each enemy we've fought has been as big or bigger of a threat than the last. It's the natural and logical escalation of power needed to keep the story moving forward and to keep up with Guardians' increasingly amazing list of accomplishments. We are becoming legends. So, we get to Destiny 2 and the threat is as big or bigger than ever. So what? Are you telling me that some random, fresh Guardian/Mary Sue is going to come out nowhere with no accomplishments and defeat them? What about our Guardians? Did they just magically go away? They can't handle this threat, but some other random can? What if each Halo had a different Chief? This war isn't over yet. We've made it this far. I want to see it to the end.

Just announced: Titan race will not make it into destiny 2. It has been found that no back up plans and universal remote have been proven to be carcinogens. This cancer causing combination is extremely aggressive and has manifested itself primarily in supremacy. Unfortunately it spreads rapidly through out the whole crucible System and has made all the scrubby Titans almost extinct. Those non scrubby- Titans who have not yet contracted this cancer are merely too fugly to procreate with so the extinction of the race before destiny 2 is inevitable.

Destiny 1 feels like a trial run. The story is like a really long teaser trailer for something much larger. I would rather play through that something with a new character

I dont mind resetting to lvl 1. But i think they could implement a cosmetics/legacy vendor where your grimoire score transfers from destiny 1 as currency. That way you still have something to show for your time put in but still have a fresh start.

I'm gonna do whatever the pc version allows---transfer characters or start over if I have to, I don't care, have had a great time with this game and invested a ton of time. My only concern is that this is a lot of press about a pc version and it all seems to come from the same rumor. Doesn't mean it's untrue, but I saw articles from everyone from Forbes Business to reddit and they are all referencing the kotaku article.

People just get attached to their gear and rewards and shit and don't want to lose it. Im all for starting over. Games become memories. They don't need to continue for the rest of your life and have your precious possessions carried forward because you have awkward attachment issues with your pixels.

9 RepliesI'm gonna be honest with you all. Destiny seems to have the 3rd worst reputation in all of gaming. That the fact of the matter, and Bungie knows it. Thanks to all the lies they spewed before destiny launched most gamers either dislike them, don't trust them, or out right hate them. Destiny 2 is their chance to fix all of that. If they can deliver what they promised in Destiny 1, Bungie will once again be one of the greats in the eyes of everyone (not just us destiny fanboys). In order to deliver those promises they need to change the engine. Any one who's savvy with game design can tell that it's not fit to handle a true open world at the scale they promised originally. As a result they probably can't bring our character forward due to conflicts with the new engine (and you bet your ass they aren't gonna bother to remake every single bit of loot from destiny 1 just so we can). So you're faced with a choice, either the game destiny was meant to be. Or settle for much much less. (I'm not naive enough to actually think they care about fans, I sure as hell know they care about money though. The Destiny they initially promised would just make so much bank in terms of the silver market and DLC.)

Good post. I think the leak we have is far too vague. Are we JUST resetting progression or are we using new characters in a totally new story that may or may not link via lore to our current one later on in the franchise? Until it becomes 100% clear I don't think I can really make a solid 'good or bad idea' decision. As for my gear though, its only stuff I have collected, ill just look at it from a 'I've put it all in a vault for now' point of view. My guardian is my guardian.
