I am new to Taken King. Need advice.

Hey folks, I am a legacy player trying to get back into destiny in anticipation for Rise of iron. I have played from Destiny Beta up until the release of the Taken King (1000+ hours). I just bought the Taken King a few days ago and need to know what I should focus on. I have 3 toons (1 of each type) that are all maxed per pre Taken King Standards. Below is a short list of what I am looking for, while all critical feedback is appreciated. I prefer PVE feedback but am average in PVP as well if I need to go that route. 1) Fastest path to increase light level in order to participate in raid, strikes, etc. Also 1 toon is only at light level 200. What is the earliest activity I can join to start getting vanguard marks? 2) I was a collector so I have every year 1 exotic and 90% of raid gear and weapons up until Taken King . What should I hang onto that can be infused? 3) What current weapons should I be seeking? Both exotic and Legendary. 4) Anyone that is in my same boat that would like to group or anyone willing to help. I am on XBOX ONE. GT: AliasXSoveriegn

  • At this point just focus on maxing out their level by beating the story on all of them with help of your daily bounties. There's not much you can do this late into the game just level then up so you can be ready for ROI and just start there you can go back later.

  • Focus on your highest character, bring it up to at least light 290 to 300 and then do the Raid Challenges. All of them are available this week. It would be the fastest way you can level up. Use whatever gear you get to level up your other toons. If you can get them all to at least 290, then do the raid challenges again. I call it Hand Me Down leveling. =) Good luck bud!

    • Add me man. I'm only a casual player but I don't mind helping out with whatever. Look into getting your reputation increased for the vanguard, crucible and factions. Each time you do it will give you an item with higher light that you can either use or use to infuse your gear. Once your light is high enough go for prison and challenge of elders and raids etc. If you're doing the storyline then I'll also join you if ya want as I can't even remember what it's all about myself, so wouldn't mind playing through again before RoI. GT is same as my name

      • 1.There really isn't a fast way to level up your light, you just have to grind it out. I would suggest you level up your factions, you can get a package that has gear or a weapon up to 330 light. You only get packages if you are at rank 3 with a certain faction though. If you have alot of strange coins, you can go see Xur and buy 3 of coins and kill Ultra bosses and use them in the crucible. But since you are more of a PVE player, I would definitely do patrols and do your bounties. You can sometimes get legendary engrams. You can also do the daily heroic mission,I do believe 200 light level is too low to do that.Once you get to a higher light level, that is another option.Right now with your low light level you really don't have too many options. 2.As far as exotics to hold on to, anything goes here.I would hold to your best and most used gear and weapons. For me I have a Hunter and a Warlock so I definately kept my Nothing Manacles,Sunbreakers,The Ram and The Impossible Machines to name a few for my Warlock and Sealed Ahamkara Grasps,Bones Of Eao and Lucky Raspberry for my Hunter. All the weapons and gear your have that isn't year 1 up to this point can be infused. 3.Current Weapons, I can go on and on about that... Patience and Time, Telesto(fusion rifle)Hawksaw(vendor), Longbow Synthesis(sniper),LDR(sniper), etc are great choices. But it depends on which weapons you are currently looking for so those were just examples. 4. I am at light level 335 with both my Hunter and Warlock, so check them out for any other tips that will help you.I am on xbox one as well,I can help if you need it, GT is MootConstant975.
