Each time you do it will give you an item with higher light that you can either use or use to infuse your gear. Once your light is high enough go for prison and challenge of elders and raids etc. If you're doing the storyline then I'll also join you if ya want as I can't even remember what it's all about myself, so wouldn't mind playing through again before RoI.
