I know aim-assist isn't auto aim (trust me, I've read enough posts about that) but to be honest it -blam!-s me over more than it helps me. Also there shouldn't be some magical robot shit helping you aim. It should be you. If you're shit at aiming, hey, you'll be matched up with people that are more or less as shit as you anyway!
(It goes without saying that with aim-assist everything else like bulletmagnetism and stuff like that also goes.)
I'd just like to know what other people think about that matter. So yeah...
edit: Right... Maybe not remove it but I should at least be able to turn it off if I want to.
edit: To everyone repeatedly telling me aim-assist is necessary and console shooters do not work without them.
You don't NEED aim-assist in a console shooter.
Have you ever heard of Rainbow Six Siege?
The only aim-assist they have is in PvE easy mode and it's still a great game.
-
Yeah, hate to rehash an old post but i agree. Aim assist just tends to get in my way. Nothing worse then lining up a great shot and having some dickwaffle jump through your sight and pull you away. And for reference, all you scrubby little niglits who use 1k stare and think you're good, go -blam!- yourself with something hard and sandpapery and get good. You can't aim for shit.
-
Just use Omolon test snipers if you don't want aim assist.
-
Snipers are fine. Bullet magnetism does not exist on snipers. Most deaths where you think you are behind cover are always lag related.
-
The people that want it to be removed, more often than not, have no idea what they're talking about, and the people that claim that it does little-to-nothing have clearly never used something with a low AA value.
-
Ever heard of a casual? They don't have the time to build up the skill for aim assist to not matter. But I don't think they'll mind if your reticle doesn't follow a random thing that just ran in front of you.
-
If you take away aim assist, the casuals and kids will stop playing. If they stop playing, they don't buy future content. If they don't buy future content, the game gets tanked. If the game gets tanked, you can't complain on the forums anymore. If you can't complain on the forums anymore, a game comes out with aim assist. If a game comes out with auto assist aiming, they start forums. If they start forums, you'll complain. If you complain, they'll take away auto assisted aiming... Get it?
-
I play Rainbow Six a lot, and I did not really know for sure if aim assist was taken out. I usually spray a lot unless I'm using Glaz.
-
This poll would be a great shotgun
-
Just reduce it.. Then the real players with superior thumb skill would reign supreme! I'm not saying that I'm good I'm just saying to actually have a real skill gap
-
Just add an option to turn it off.
-
There should be the option to turn it off.
-
AA should be the same all accross each weapon type, it shouldn't be an adjustable stat. A nice average figure (based on current sniper rifles) would be fine. Possibly a little less. I personally don't remember any other games that had AA as an adjustable stat, maybe there were some but it seems like a stupid idea to me.
-
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NRJ4CdU8sMk Just gonna leave this here.
-
The moment you remove aim assist, everyone will cry about their shots not hitting enemies because everyone's used to playing with aim assist.
-
As the skull modifier in Halo says "You'll miss it when it's gone."
-
You won't land any shots if they get rid of aim assist, and expect more campers.
-
I don't think we should remove it, but I also don't think it should allow players sniping to but a strafing player but where their head was. Personnaly I think it could a bit of a turn down, but only for something like snipers that usually have a really high amount of AA to make it so you need a bit more skill to place that shot :)
-
60% of people are people who can't snipe. Or people who want the easy way out of everything.
-
Where's the option for "leave it alone"? It's really not that bad.. Stop complaining all the time
-
Removing AA would make shots impossible. One reason. You simply don't have the hand eye coordination with your character. IRL you can move a weapon easily and aim directly and consistently with the target. But in video games. You can't do that. You can move the controller fast enough or slow enough to follow the target or aim on your target. It's impossible.

Edited by Grant Limprod: 2/21/2016 9:42:21 AMOkay if you are one of these of people who talk about Aim Assist and say it makes it too easy to land headshots, you are arguing from a position of ignorance. The affects of Aim Assist between the highest and lowest AA snipers is actually a matter of a tenth of second. Granted it is technically easier to land a headshot with higher Aim assist, but how much easier is completely misunderstood by the select few "nerf callers". Are snipers an issue? No they are not. Players just don't like dying and so they are trying to find ways to reduce the number of deaths they have and then blame the one where they couldn't do much about it, in game.
-
I still find it retarded how big of a deal such a meaningless stat has become.
-
People forget that Destiny is FPS-based action RPG. If you want a hardcore shooter, Destiny is not it.
-
Try playing csgo on console and you will see why you need aim assist
-
People that said remove AA are retarded. If console games had no AA almost every shot would be a miss.
-
There should be an option to turn it off like in BO3.
