Hello dear Destiny community,
I know nobody really knows me or cares about my opinion, but I still want to get this out there. Like the title suggests I want to put the final nail into the coffin of my Destiny "carreer". I've put a ton of hours into this game. But now after the release of the Taken King the deal is sealed: I'm out! The reasons for this are plentiful. For example the lackluster story(TTK included), high dlc prices and frustatring, very often occuring, connection and balancing issues in the crucible just to name a few. But what tipped me over the edge was Bungies disrespect towards parts of our community. The old guard to be precise. Year One buyers were given the shaft in many different aspects and especially the people who still don't own TTK. From release date to now, Bungie showed me that they care much more about money than making a good and satisfying experience from beginning to end.
The more interesting part is what kept me playing. It was a mixture of good will, hope and addiction. With the addiction part I'm referencing the randomized loot. If we are serious with each other, Destiny's RNG System is nothing more than a hidden slot machine. Just ask yourself how many hours you spent fishing for good loot by doing nightfalls, farming engrams and compleating raids over and over again without having fun and ending in a fruitless crusade? Too many hours to count in my case. But this hope of "Oh, they're going to fix this soon" and "They couldn't allow this to go on for a long while" kept me coming back just to see if Bungie finally got back to their senses and worked out all the issues we've been complaining about. I was greeted with a lot of dissapointment. Were you? Did you ever think that those people actually cared about your feelings as a gamer? Am I the only one who's hopes were crushed? Who's opinion was ignored, just for the sake of profit? I firmly belief that that is not true. The guys at Bungie and Activision don't think our opinions really matter. Sure, they tell us that they do - but there actions suggest strongly that this statement is false. That's the sad truth. My hope died.
But why am I posting this here? Simple: I want to warn you. Bungie doesn't care about you, not really. They just care about what's in your pockets. And I know I will probably get a lot of hate from fellow community members because they feel personally offended which is caused by me critiquing a game they like and identify with. To those people - I am NOT your enemy. I'm a brother in arms who fell because of Bungies abuse of trust. I'm trying to look out for you - shield you from bull presented by the devs. And don't blame Activision for everything, Bungie has lost their innocence long ago and you shouldn't try to pretend that there still the same ol' guys from the Halo days. They've changed and won't hesitate to take advantage of you by selling you stuff that you don't need.cough microtransactions cough
Save your money and your time for better games that deserve it. Don't make the mistakes I made - this is a business between you and Bungie/Activision. Treat it as such. You are not at their mercy - they're at yours.
Farewell fellow community members. I wish you luck and hope that you can draw your own conclusions off of this. Keep your standards high, either Activision addepts to them or they'll fall.

Good post, very accurate imo

You never played ttk how can you comment on its storey? Muted troll

I'm a year two player and I would have to imagine that if I was a year 1 I would be upset too. But having saying that, I've been playing since TTK launch and am starting to feel the exact same as you.
You literally just described every MMO ever. Imagine trying to farm an infinity Pistol in Borderlands 2 from Doc Mercy. It has a 5% chance to drop, and after you kill him you have to reload the game to get him to respawn in a timely matter. What are your chances of finding it from a random chest you may ask? Only 0.01% chance.

Bump I care about your opinion, as do many others. You're doing what's best for yourself and that's truly great. Thank you guardian.

I find it interesting these companies try to get as much money out of as little effort as possible. If the product was great in the first place and they had invested a lot into it just for it pay itself back with positive reviews/opinions it would have been miles better than the direction they have taken Destiny. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather maintain my ethics and pride by putting out a good product my company would be proud of instead of what it seems has been delivered. $$ isn't everything....GREED! The old saying; spend money to make money, same applies here. Bungie and Activision will start to feel it when people have had enough and no longer trust Bungie and refuse to buy their future product(s).

Leave while you have the will this game is as bad as cigarettes frfr
-
Agreed with it all. I just can't stop picking up the Destiny RN"G" funk glass pipe. They got me hooked like a phone.
-
Nice. More and more wake up daily to realize how garbage and shady of a company Bungie is.

Bump #ontobettergames

I feel the exact same way. I didn't buy TTK mainly because of the fact I hated how they were handling things on the business/ financial side. I just didn't feel good playing a game I felt was siphoning money from its player base for little returns
-
Agree I only check to see how much the players are actually gonna put up with before they quit but hey! Fallout 4 tons of sick games rip
-
Well said great points ! Take care out there and who knows maybe see you in the waste lands !
-
Bump! Very well said
-
Good post.

Guardian down...best of luck out there, good post...

I got on for the first time in three weeks and found like two people at the tower, and almost no one while I was out on patrol. I've noticed that a lot of the players are around your actual physical location, Destiny is dying out where I live
-
I am with you. Put a lot of hours into this game but I am out. Maybe black ops 3 will be good?#quit

Bump and best of luck to u...I'm just about to give it up myself mainly do to the nerf pussies ruining many of the weapons I loved...

Edited by TheShadow: 10/13/2015 1:23:04 AMAfter i get all the so call loot, which will not be long at all and knowing after doing king's fall. There is nothing to do in this game what so ever that is any different from launch of year one. Ttk has been out for a little over a month and im right back where i start from. Nothing but farming. Farming is the future of this game and false hope that it will get better. So, after im done with ttk. Hello Halo 5 :) and will be playing battlefront from time to time. With a little Halo Reach, when bungie was actually bungie and gave a shit to at least showed some respect for the community. They left leaving a gift....

It was a great discussion we had! But I'm going to delete the app from my phone now, so please don't feel offended if your comments won't be answered. Farewell people. Have a great day!

Amen, brother.

Very good post, though I may disagree with your decision. However, if you don't like destiny now, there is a good chance you won't like it in 9 years at the end of its time. I for one will ride this one out.
