I've enjoyed it but it is a massive rip off. In the UK it cost us £34.99 and the content is minimal. The whole game has minimal content so it shouldn't be a shock to me.

I refuse to let cognitive dissonance get the better of me. Yes, I pre-paid for the DLC. No, I don't think the DLC is worth $20. Yes, will keep playing "Destiny" because I cannot stop myself. Please help me.

5 RepliesIn my opinion no, this DLC is beyond a joke and here is why.... I have seen many people use the old "you paid out for a few maps on CoD/Battlefield so how is this different" well it is different because those games had content and stories that didn't have to be pieced together by going to a website. £20 for a DLC is a bit much but okay if the content is worth it and in my opinion ,and from the looks of it many other, it wasn't. When the whole DLC content can be done in less than a couple of hours and basically is nothing new is bad. I would point out I didn't have to download anything for this DLC, is that because the content was already there and meant for the original release? who knows. I will say the new gear looks nice but you haven't got anything challenging to use it on. Why is it the new missions are a level 24-28? surely 30+ missions should have been wiser. Why are you just reusing old maps in reverse? Why is there essentially no story...AGAIN? I haven't tried the PVP maps but I, like many, don't really care too much for the PVP side. So in short no I think we were ripped off. I think the content was meant to be in the launch. I like the new gear but believe it is pointless. I am some people think what they got was worth it but for a game that content wise has taken me no more than 5-6 hours to clear then personally I think I have been ripped off. Oh and yes I have many hours logged but that is because I wanted to try and make my expenditure worth it. Bungie/Activision please do not make a Destiny 2, you may have "known" what you were doing in the past but clearly not anymore, Clearly it is about suckering us in and taking our money.

The only way this DLC would ever be worth it is if it was FREE. Seriously, the amount of content you get is minuscule. There is still no dialogue, there is no explanation to nay of our questions, there is still no backbone to this lore, there is nothing. It's only been 1 day and the raid is done...shouldn't be long now before all this content gets exhausted, i give it a week.

The tiny bit of story (3 missions, only 2 of which can be replayed) were great, I loved the new areas. Just way too short. The new Strike I've heard is amazing, yet to dive in myself however. And the Raid... checked it out with a buddy to see what we could see. Damn. I'm psyched. The Raid is the only reason to get the DLC. That being said, 20 bucks for a tiny bit of extra story, 3 PvP maps, a lone Strike (2 for you PS people) and a Raid? Not worth it. I'm only playing it now thanks to my Limited Edition. A third of the cost of the original game, for less than a third of the original content is what it boils down to. Kind of a ripoff.

12 RepliesDestiny is why I will not pre-order any game. Just to think that a simple redbox rental would have saved me so much regret. They should refund all expansions and offer the content for free as a apology.

In all honesty myself, like many others, wanted the ghost edition but that flopped. So I have it a try anyway and was slightly happy with what I got. I saw potential so I threw in time after work and on my off days to make my titan. I made 20 in 2 days and sacrificed sleep just to see this game through. Suffered through the iron banner to try and get closer to 30, because honestly I hate the pvp system in this game, so I could prepare myself more for the story. I stopped at 29 so I could save materials for what the dlc could have in store. I also stopped because I got tired of trying to find raid groups I hated having to do that for everything. Basic strikes you throw people together but nightfall you won't let a search occur at all. Doesn't make sense. So now being finished with this dlc I'm very unsatisfied. I want the game to be better and see the potential for this to be a great game. But I think this was out together too quick without any actual long term plans. If anything this dlc should have been around $5 and the season pass around $10. I don't see $20 with of ODC at all and half the places I've been through pre-dlc. Plus all the time and effort put into my equipment feels wasted because the upgrade system changed so much that my materials may have well been thrown into the hell mouth. The game could be better and should be. It doesn't make any sense to wait months on something we already have and if this game is supposed to last years then something is going to have to change because I'm really scraping the barrel on trying to find a reason to keep playing. This game can be better, PLEASE LISTEN TO THE COMMUNITY !

So many forum posts, it's hard to know where to comment. I never played Halo as I've always been a PS owner, but I hear Bungie was very generous with their DLC for that series. Having played COD for a few years, I finally stopped as it was the same game dressed in new visuals. The DLC also got a little more expensive each time. The thing that is the same between COD and Destiny is Activision. As I saw someone else write, they are the puppet master. Yes Bungie signed a contract, a contract which likely had some fine print which lead to all of us being upset about the lack of content and the "patch" they just sold as DLC, but it's Activision we should be mad at. After playing only the first two story missions from the DLC, it seems like the content isn't anything more than when the Queen's bounty was active. Maybe the Queens bounty plus Iron Banner, but still very little. It's even worse when you realise the size of the download for the DLC was only the size of an unlock key, meaning, and I know we all know this, that the content was already including in the original release. So it was basically a $20 raid, as that appears to be where most of the content is located. I bought it, the game and DLC, and I still play it, and I don't mind the re-grinding for upgrades that much as I am entertained at the end of the day. When it stops being entertaining, I'll stop playing. The game developers and distributors are going to keep doing stuff like this until their audience stops paying for it. The only way to make a difference is to stop supporting game companies that do this to us. Instead of hacking Sony or Xbox and disrupting our online gaming, why don't the hackers go after Activision to make a statement. :)

Its a Rip off plain on 3 points. 1st. [b]THIS DLC DOES NOT PROVIDE US WITH 3 NEW STORY MISSIONS!!![/b] It contains 1 prologue and 2 story missions. The prologue cannot count as a story mission. The mission is not re-playable so it does not count as a story mission it is a prologue. 2nd. There is minimal back story to this dlc and no cutscenes!!! WTF I THOUGHT YOU GUYS WERE ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM!!! 3rd. The update for this dlc has forcefully locked players out of base game content specifically it well lock players who do not have the dlc out of the nightfall and weekly whenever the strikes from the dlc are used for those missions. It is a huge rip off and I'm not impressed.

7 RepliesI'm pretty disillusioned with The Dark Below mission content, which was the primary reason I bought it. I knew it was only going to be 3 missions but they are 3 of the shortest missions I've witnessed, ran through environments that are easily 80% recycled from what we've run through on a daily basis since launch.To call this 'new content' is pushing the boundaries of farce. What I see from The Dark Below is lazy, refurbished content with the barest minimum of fresh material. Unimaginative, lazy, insulting. All the mates I played it with today had to agree that as much as we love the game we'd been royally shafted again by Bungie/Activision. I do regret being swayed into buying the season pass by friends, against my better judgement, but blame myself nobody else; I knew all along the 30 something pounds they were asking for it was way over priced.No fool like an old fool...

I find it worth it, though i got the pass when it was on sale :P. It adds new items, a new strike and some new challenges. Though it can HARDLY be called an expansion DLC does fit it. It is downloadable content.

1 ReplyPutting aside CoD costs for equivalent dlc. I'd say this is a good dlc, worth the cost though? Thats harder to answer, honestly i completed the missions and the bountys in only a few hours taking my time with only the raid left, if they halved it then it would be 'worth it' but its not so bad i'd call it a rip off. This just seems like a large patch with a few bits of content added on and i've played more than a few games that added massive amounts of content free, some mmo (WoW, Rift, Age of conan), some free to play (Warframe), some free to pay (Neverwinter). I can at least say that i wasn't surprised.

Voted rip-off, unfortunately did not cut it for me, three (more vague than ever) story missions with even worse grimoire cards that just repeat what Eris said, and a new raid that will be out dated in 3 months just like VOG is now, don't know if I will bother to keep playing yet, love the game but it's being ruined by casuals, there was a time when rpg and shooters reward the hardcore players, not destiny, destiny says "-blam!- you, try and get lucky... I dare you!"

I don't see how it is not worth $20 i mean i can't recall at the moment how much a cod dlc cost 15-20 or something and all you get there are four multiplayer maps lol and no one bitches about that! Destiny gives us more story, a strike, a pretty awesome raid from what i have heard, 3 multiplayer maps, new vendor armor/weapons, new raid/exotic armor and weapons, quests, shaders, emblems andddd what else i probably forgot more stuff lol not bad for 20 lousy dollars
