Perks should stack. (Heavy Weapon Ammo example.)

Hey Bungie, I noticed that as of the most recent patch, if a player has the extra heavy weapon ammo perk on multiple pieces of armour then it will only be counted once. I don't agree with that. Picture this. Say a Titan gets raid boots. All raid boots come with the extra heavy ammo perk. If they want to reach level 30 they absolutely must equip these boots (at least until they get Iron Banner boots or the Mk. 44 Stand Asides come along). Now they equip The Armamentarium which itself has the heavy ammo perk. Now one of those perks is rendered moot. I really see no problem with stackable perks. Being able to carry one more rocket is far from game breaking, it's yet another unnecessary nerf. Players still need to pick up the ammo in the first place. Please reconsider this change, and when you're done reconsidering it change it back. And on the subject of stackable perks, I got a Hide And Seek 42 (Dead Orbit Shotgun) with two Grenadier perks on it. They did not stack so I scrapped it since what was the point? If multiples of the same perk can be applied they ought to stack be it armour or weapon. I see no reason for that not to be the case. Thoughts?

  • Its kinda like the field scout perk on launchers with tripod perk and without tripod perk still does nothing

So I find myself back at this topic after a few notifications. So recently Crucible was changed where heavy ammo no longer drops from killing Guardians that were in posession of some. A change I don't agree with being so widespread, I'd have limited it to Inferno Crucible myself, but that's not the point. The point is now heavy ammo plays less of a role in Crucible due to there being less of it available, surely these perks deserve to be made to stack again all the more? Plus holding more heavy can only improve PvE activites but that's obvious.

  • I thought they did stack. Guess I was wrong and would then have to agree

Bungie has stated this: 'My Extra Heavy Ammo perks only grant one extra bullet. All weapons have a cap on ammo reserves; the ammo cap is dependent on magazine size. If you have a gear upgrade that increases heavy ammo to your weapon's ammo cap, it will only add one round to the ammo reserves. Please plan your perks accordingly.' How is maximum ammo reserve calculated though? difficult to plan if we don't know the figure. Could the absoloute maximum a weapon can carry be displayed like the maximum light/discipline/streangth and intelect now are? There is even a space for it to the right of magazine in a weapons details.

This is even more prevalant now, with the new crota's end raid gear again having Heavy ammo boots and it still being unstackable and this being the only set of armor to reach 32 since new iron banner gear will only get you to 31. It seems to render the perks of these armors completely useless to end game characters I would think more variety for end game armor or a penalization for stacking rather than complete negation would be better e.g If you had a Machine gun that base max ammo was 100 then the first increase to ammo would add say 100% making it 200 then the next 50% making 250 then the next 25% making it 275 so there was not an overpowered amount of ammo to be gained by focusing on one attribute and you would be better off spreading your perks but this way you don't get nothing. Obviously these figures are just a suggestion and wouldn't neccesarily work for all weapons.

        • Here's another vote and gripe about the change to the heavy ammo perk not stacking. I will also add this: Such a change was NOT listed in the update release information. As a result I can only assume the nerf is unintentional rather than something Bungie wanted to do. This, of course, is giving Bungie the benefit of the doubt and assuming they would communicate such an intentional change to the community of players who spent their money on the game. Losing two rounds of heavy ammo capacity is a very big deal in PvE, especially in Nightfall Strikes and Vault raids.

        • This is a good and bad idea to me. For PvP already having the ability to carry more heavy ammo per say gives you 4 instead of 2 and killing players who also have heavy gives you another 2. Now if these were to stack it would pretty much be endless. Because my rocket launcher, and two of my armor prices have this ability that's a lot of stacking.

        • Does carry more ammo on armor and field scout stack? If not then it makes those perks entirely useless for that gun.

        • The increased melee speed needs to stack as well. Titans raid helmet comes with increased melee attack speed, so using that and my exotic gloves cause a perk to be useless. This makes no sense! All perks need to stack!

        • I don't think all abilities should stack, but I'm sure tired of guessing about what does and doesn't. It's an obvious move for players to try and improve by stacking abilities. When you're arranging your subclass specs, arranging for the best light level, etc., players could easily miss that one particular thing doesn't work as they assumed. It's not like the game comes with a reference manual.

I wear both boots and chest with heavy ammo perk. I carry 8 rockets. They stack for me. Boots put me at 7, chest put me at 8. Just read that the latest patch broke it... My bad!

          • I've been away for a few days and I come back to find my heavy ammo capacity got nerfed. I'm really bummed about this. I was dreading using Armamentarium over Saint-14, but I wanted to hit level 30. The heavy ammo capacity perks stacking actually made the switch fun and worth it. Makes your Titan actually feel like a walking tank.
