Character migration from Beta to Full game
Seriously...seriously... Bungie needs to make it a given that the characters we have been using in Beta are to continue with us in the full version of the game!
I will find it (and many others i am am sure) very annoying that I:
- will have to build up my character all over again in full game
- will have to redo the same levels/missions again as is in the full game. That would be soooo boring!
Yes...yes...this is beta and it is for testing. But, u guys r Bungie...Be Inovative...COME ON!!

I could see items and accumulations that have a lot to do with your account being the only possible carry-over, because it would be quite hard to duplicate each person's characters, given we have up to 3 and there's a few thousand players on both console types. Currency, and vault items are likely, along with Grimoire, but the only thing that could hinder our stored gear is if they patch/update the details of any specific loot we may have, then the weapon or whatever it may be may become corrupted through file and data transfer.

2 RepliesNot to sound like a jerk but just cuz other mmos don't carry over doesn't mean bungie shouldn't. People need to stop saying "even playing field" too. That doesn't exist in videogames or in real life. Some people have work all day, some don't. Some get day one release some don't. There's a three hour time difference between where I live and people on pacific time. So if I wanted I could have a 3 hr head start on them. And yea this game's beta has been in everyone's face on so many advertising outlets for almost a year so If someone didn't get beta it's their loss. I would also hate to redo my crucible rank too. That took a while lol

However, if there was some way to put our favorite weapons and gear in the bank or anything else that we earned like emlems or grimoir cards so that we could keep those, that would be much better. I'm OK with having to level up my character again. That's not that hard. In fact I would rather start off from level 1 again in the full game. However, some of the more rare items that I have worked hard to try to get I would like to be able to keep, so that when the full game launches, I can begin to use them again once I have reached the level requirement. At least things like emblems, grimoir, glitter, and rep points. I could probably get over losing my gear, but I want to keep the other more statistical things I had earned.

It better NOT carry over. Stop being lazy. It'll be more satisfying when you begin and grow your Guardian in full game. #justsayno

Character Investment: I don't understand the investment in this. It takes just a few hours to get to level 8, and few more hours to max out the other skills the beta lets you. It's not a huge set-back, especially with the XP boosts of Missions/Strikes/PvE Bounties. (Kill 30 guys without that guy hitting you? Pfft. Fine. Gernades away. Headshots? Cool, time to pick off some low level dudes, etc.) But my Gear!: For those who don't want to research for their gear: if it's underneath level 20, why bother keeping it? You'll ding another level, find 9 and 10 (/blue tier) stuff and you've already outpaced your gear. Iron Crucible Rewards: I get it. You got the bus. Everybody wants that sweet pistol. But it's random. Iron Crucible was alive for what, 6 hours? Less than that? Rewards were random. A terrible PvP player like me can get those shiny purples by, ya know, getting shot a lot. Not so much of a "It's my reward!," as it is the RNG was in your favor.

I agree 100%. I've been wanting to try all 3 classes and raise them to level 8, and it would be a bummer if all of that experience and time were for nothing.

1 ReplySay when the full game comes out there are now new character customization options. It would be unfortunate if you couldn't access them because your character was pre-made by your past self.

7 Replies1. The gear you have now is crap compared to what you'll have at lvl 15 2. Why would you want to start the full game at lvl 8? You would be basically halfway to the cap and that wouldn't be fun. 3. If anything gets transfered I think it would be the grimoire score. Just my thoughts

2 RepliesNo thanks, this is beta and I highly doubt all the missions will be the same. Who is the guy talking to us when we go to the devils lair and kill sepiks prime? there seems to be a lot of story missed out. Just stop playing and give actual testing feedback

Wouldn't be fair because we had accelerated leveling, which would also make the retail version feel super slow. For sake of everyone's experiences, naw. But we do get a prize (an emblem) that carries for playing on Saturday at 2 pm Pacific (4pm Central)

1 ReplyI am opposed. If you have only invested in one character then shame on you. I took the time I try out every class through level 8 to feel the different game play. I want to start from scratch and see all the changes they have made.

I'm sorry you came in unaware of the difference between a beta test and early access. Also the fact that character migration has happened in virtually no beta test to official release ever.

8 RepliesDisagree completely. For one it would obviously be unfair. Second it really doesn't take that much time to reach where we have in beta. Not to mention it's a beta so for all we know they could add content that you'd miss because you started the game at lvl 8.

All that time you spent building your current character(s) will be an unfair advantage over those people who don't have the beta, especially when the lvl 8 cap doesn't stop you from accumulating subclass upgrades. You only did 5 missions. 5 missions you'll have a month to forget about.

It would be nice to at least migrate our character design , playing from level 0 wouldn't be as annoying.

It would provide an unfair advantage to people coming into the game who haven't played the beta as those who have played the beta already have a higher reputation with vendors and can get access to the legendary loot that they sell sooner. If they were to include character migration I wouldn't be butthurt about it but I generally think that it's a good idea that they aren't planning to at the moment.

I agree with you that we should be able to carry over our characters into the full game. For one reason, it would balance the sever stress on launch. Think about it Bungie, don't want to have a GTA V style sever destruction on launch day!!

I disagree. 1. I really hope there are a few additions to character creation since the human male hair is rubbish... if they did a carry over and a free makeover, meh. 2. Most beta do not carry over progress. Very rarely you'll get some of it carried over in a late stage but typically you see wipes. 3. It wasn't advertised as something that would carry over. Even if 8 levels (and subclass unlocks) isn't a huge deal, the people who are busy/waiting/etc will be pissed if it carries over without any warning, especially given expectations created by point 2. 4. If the early levels are so boring that you don't want to do it again, give them feedback to improve it. Unless you just love the PvP side (thats were I've seen the most bugs!), I don't quite follow why you want to keep progress for a game you don't find enjoyable. Not that I have to nor does it demand there be no carry over... still there seems to be a bigger issue that progress from a test being lost if its that bad to you.

Bad idea for a few reasons: 1 as it has been stated every time this topic comes up, they didn't let us play the beta to let us have a head start in the full game. They let us play a beta to work out as many kinks as they can so the game runs smooth on launch day. 2 quit whining! Do you really think you won't be able to find better gear in the full game. 3 you can't honestly say you wouldn't have fun playing through all the missions, the devils lair and the crucible again from scratch. So quit complaining and enjoy the beta while it lasts.

3 RepliesHonestly, these topics are useless. Bungie has already said they weren't going to do it, and they have no obligation to do so. You chose to play the beta, which is merely meant to test. Never was there any indication that progress would carry over. Everyone is going to lose stuff, but so what? If you enjoyed the game, replaying the missions should not be that big of a deal. The full game is going to have less accelerated leveling (something put in for the Beta), and many things are likely to be different. Thus, there is no point in asking for this, it isn't happening.

Maybe not lvls but at least are gear so we have something to look forward to when we reach that lvl again if we don't already have something better by that time but I would love to be able to keep my hunter cape from the iron banner.

2 RepliesWell, if they're giving out Legendary Lv20 Pistols like that one a guy won in Iron Banner, i'd say they will carry over. Why would they give you a prize you couldn't use? :/
