Hey everyone, it's Laxberry (SoccerGirl17 was my old name, I just changed it). I just completed Halo 4, and have now beaten the campaign for Reach, CEA, 2, 3, and 4.
I liked the Halo 4 campaign for the most part, but I was just thinking that it's pretty weird how everyone seems to hate Halsey.
Is it just me or was the spartan escorting her a jerk? She made all of them possible, and saved humanity through her genius. Instead of making a criminal out of her they should be praising her...
Halsey gave very logical and common sense reasons as to why she took children in the prologue. Her "atrocity" saved humanity no matter how you look at things. They should build her a flippin' statue, haha.
What do you guys think of Halsey being mistreated in Halo 4?

People in Halo 4 have mo respect for heroes like mc and halsey

Edited by Gaara444: 7/18/2013 9:11:03 PM>Faced with extinction. >Do a terrible act to save the entire human race. >Save all of mankind. >Incarcerate the woman who literally saved the entire human existence. UNSC super human logic. This is the kind of shit that makes Halo 4 a bad story, among other things.

For using up ONI money to make clones of the spartan 2s to fake their deaths. Stealing a starship kidnapping a spartan and ONI just want to get back at her for dissing them.
-
Halo 4
There's the problem. We all know that 343 is killing the franchise.
-
The problem with scapegoating halsey is the fact that ONI NEEDS HER. You don't demonize somebody and then expect them to work for you and help you out. If I blame a co-worker for everything that goes wrong and treat them like the devil, you think they will want to help me out? No. Also the fact, as chief put it, Spartan 2 details SHOULD NEVER GO PUBLIC. Chief's thoughts on it was that it'd shatter the UNSC and do damage to humanity that could never be repaired. There is no need to scapegoat/go public if the public doesn't know. The board of admirals fully know everything that went on with the Spartan projection. So it's not a secret from them.

Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 7/18/2013 7:55:41 PMShe kidnapped hundreds of kids, tortured and killed most, and then turned the rest into mindless drones for suicide missions, amounting to tantamount slavery. So yeah, her work helped save humanity and eventually led to a supersoldier program free of the kidnapping and indoctrination, but it was still criminal to a terrible degree.

She's ONI's scapegoat.

Edited by ROBERTO jh: 7/18/2013 12:54:18 AMOnce again, Halsey was not arrested for kidnapping children, she was arrested for illegal cloning procedures. ONI is merely using the kidnapped-children thing as a smear tactic to accentuate her negative public image; even Parangosky fully admitted the extreme value of the Spartans, and authorized herself the SIII program. But she never cloned them. But "everyone" (ignoring the Spartan II's, Thorne and Lasky) hates Halsey because ONI is in control of her publicity, and ONI is likely using her as scapegoat to divert the blame onto a single individual. They can't be blamed for what they know.
-
she did a few bad thing look it up
-
Many of them have always hated her for what she has done.
-
343i changed her physical features completely, Imprisoned her, turned pretty much all of humanity against her, attempted to kill her, and shot her arm off all in one game... So yeah, I would say so.
-
ONI needs someone to blame for everything, and so that's why they have her inprisoned, they even hired Spartan-IIs that were crippled by the augmentations and are all taking revenge on her... At the same time, is she justified? She did create the Spartans to enforce the colonies under UNSC and ONI and ended up with many broken men and women... Then again ONI ordered this and since the secret of the Spartans is out, they're blaming Halsey for the mentally broken Spartan IIs and IIIs and crediting Master Chief and the IVs as theirs...
-
I hoping that her mistreatment is not because 343 thinks she deserved it, but because ONI thinks she is too smart and dangerous to be let loose.
-
Because female Hitler (I do so love Godwin's Law...) needs to not play God. "I've created the next step in Human evolution"... really 3fail3???? Really?

Edited by Winter Soldier: 7/19/2013 10:04:45 AMNo mommy noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly didn't understand that either. Apparently the Spartan II program was really shady and people weren't aware of how the Spartan were made (kidnapping children and doing medical experiments). And when that information got out, people were highly displeased.
-
I don't like Halsey for some reasons, but 343i done some weird things.
-
Edited by Citrus raptor: 7/19/2013 11:07:13 AMMark my words, they're treating her bad now so that they can turn the tide when they believe readers are at their peak of frustration over how she's being handled, then reward both her and the reader with the sense of having overcome something, held out against injustices, etc. It's a cheap technique, but it will most likely work.
-
Halsey broke the law several times but the military is so dependent on her she got away with, so everyone hates her for being well connected.

I don't necessarily like it or agree with it, but I get it. Wars have secrets. Terrible things happen. Someone has to take the fall, but it's not usually the one in charge. There's politicking to it. As a show of good faith, after the war we see ONI trying to air out its dirty laundry. Truth gets out and someone has to be held responsible. They pin it on Halsey so that they can say "Look, some of us screwed up, but we're here to make amends. Justice will be served." Halsey's always been hated by ONI anyway (proven in, among other sources, her journal), so sacrificing her to the masses is hardly an issue. Think about it though: Halsey was the mastermind of the Spartan program. The augments, training, and selection process (which led to kidnapping children and leaving behind flash clones) was all her doing, her careful planning. She did it for the good of humanity, yes. But at what cost? It worked in the end, but hindsight is 20/20. If humanity had lost, if the Spartans had faltered, Halsey would only be remembered as another Mengele, assuming any bits of humanity survived. Some of her experimental augmentations had terrible effects, including death or severe crippling of the body (and some Spartans that "washed out" after augmentation undoubtedly weren't going to live the rest of their lives pleased with Halsey). Families were destroyed when they found the dead flash clones, thinking their precious babies had died. Some undoubtedly were suspicious, others shocked and suicidal, while still others may have divorced not being able to handle their loss. Across the board, many were affected in this way. To simply say that it was done "for the greater good" may not have been reason enough for the families who lost sons and daughters (or suicidal spouses). Coming clean becomes necessary. Halsey becomes the scapegoat as the mastermind. Was her part exaggerated? Sure, but that's how the universe works to cover more secrets. Can people really forgive crimes just because they ended up benefitting others? Certainly there would still be people crying for justice to be done. That's why a society wouldn't allow someone like Halsey to just walk. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of her going forward, but as it stands, I can appreciate how this could be a realistic interpretation.

Because Traviss.
-
So the Halo: Initiation preview has been released and not even two pages in there is Halsey bashing. Stay classy 343i.
-
Karen Travis did this, and I blame the people who wrote Sarah Palmer, how terrible.
-
Halsey is kind of a bitch though.

The part was bothered me is the fact that Halsey wanted revenge. It seems out of character.
