Polaris Lance Catalyst bugged?
I've been playing with polaris lance recently to finish my catalyst and the description is very vague or it is not working properly. Because I tried getting perfect fifth kills for it in grasp at the start and alters of sorrow and haven't gotten a single kill progression towards perfect fifth. Is it bugged?

You need to get the kills with the BURN effect, not the actual explosion. This has been a thing since warmind, but Bungie never clarified it on the catalyst despite numerous complaints. I’d recommend shooting the explosion nearby targets instead of right at them, so they are damaged by the explosion and die from the burn. Otherwise, certain tanky enemies can live through the explosion but barely die to the burn.

When the catalyst progression is working you can complete it in an hour in the perdition list sector if scouts are antibarrier. Four crit the Hydra through the shield then shoot a Harpie on the wing, rinse and repeat. Same thing at the boss, 4 crit the Harpie or goblin on a wing it head. You can get 5-10 perfect 5th's per list sector.

I've had the catalyst since it came out and I'm only at 40 out of 50. Granted I haven't picked up the gun in a long time but still it's seems to not register a perfect fifth kill sometimes

Bungie should have just made it precision kills for progression and been done with it a long -blam!- time ago.

About the description, yes it is very vague. The Perfect Fifth kills must not come from the "explosion" itselff, but from the burn damage caused by it. However you still have to wait the fix before completing it.
