Ehy Guardian. Yes, the Catalyst is currently bugged and Bungie is investigating to resolve the problem.
About the description, yes it is very vague. The Perfect Fifth kills must not come from the "explosion" itselff, but from the burn damage caused by it. However you still have to wait the fix before completing it.

No, they aren't. It's been that way since it was released. If they were, they would've fixed it after so many years. At this point, it would make more sense to auto complete it, or remove it entirely.

I've heard that the Catalyst has been bugged for a long time now, but Bungie added it to the Know Issues list just few weeks ago =/ so I suppose they've started to interest about it just since then. I also suppose the same situation will be for the Bells bugged in the Duality Dungeon. For now Bungie didn't say a thing about it even if there are many videoprof and threads, but nothing so far neither in the TWABs nor on Twitter ecc [i](at least for what I know)[/i].

A few weeks ago? I remember a post I made years ago after 4th Horseman was released that listed a lot of things that made no sense and that was one of the things Cozmo addressed then on that thread. Trust me, they've known about it for years. Hell, let me give you another I'm sure everyone noticed at least once, a bug that one of their Help guys inquired about. Hawkmoon won't gain the 7th stack of PC shot if your second to final shot isn't a crit. Test it yourself with an 8 shot Hawkmoon and one shot body shot 7 enemies, you'll still only have 6 stacks despite fulfilling the requirements for 7. So many OHK rounds I've been cheated out of because of that.

Yes. As I said, the Catalyst has been bugged for a while now. But it has been listed as a Known Issue in the relative page only the 6/02/2022 (June 2th) with the pubblication of the TWAB in which Bungie reported it in the Known Issues section.

The way to complete the catalyst is worded wrong. It's only been bugged since this season started

So even the burn damage isn't working? Again, it would literally make more sense to just auto complete that part, it's not like the burn actually does anything.
