To Those Complaining, The State of Competitive

I have seen the crucible forums littered with claims such as "Comp is too hard" or "I can't get Luna's Solo!" and I just want to address these claims. [b]Here is something to keep in mind, before you respond to any of these people begging for changes, check their stats first (Overall K/D, Win/Loss Ratio, Time Played, etc.).[/b] Just this morning, I came across two dozens posts arguing over the difficulty of the comp playlist. Something odd about the posts was that their overall K/D was .89. Win/Loss ratios were 54%. Overall time played was less than average as well. I understand that Comp is not in the best position right now, however, to the users that go to the forums after losing a game in comp, here's an idea; instead of trying to make the game easier, why not try a little harder? (Avoiding the whole "get gud" mentality) People who took the time to grind in Season 4 shouldn't have their accomplishments handed out to those who don't deserve it. There should be items in Destiny that only certain people can obtain. This adds value to the items and a sense of accomplishment to those who can achieve them. [u]Please, leave your comments/feedback! What changes (if any) would you like to see implemented in the future?[/u] Lastly, some tips for playing in Comp: 1. There are many platforms with entire communities that specialize in Crucible. Try forming a team and heading into Comp with 2-3 other guardians. 2. Don't Solo queue, especially if you're worried about losing rank. 3. Practice. 4. If needs be, conform to the current meta, if you don't wanna, it's on you. (I always say to my team, "play to win, doesn't matter how we do it.")

    • i'm an average player i don't care about rateo and i have a 50% win/lost , i Always get matched up with people even worse than me versus a full fireteam all with luna's , i shouldn't complain ??? you said "play to win, doesn't matter how we do it." cool story but also a very sad story

    • I do agree 95%. Exception is that the reward should not be an over powered item giving an advantage to an already better skilled player. I makes PvP even more annoying for the average and lesser skilled players. They have enough trouble getting the job done already. Personally I think elitist type rewards should be the most badass looking armor you've ever seen. Showing all what you've accomplished. Without giving you any special power favor. But that's just my way of thinking. The game is so far out of balance as it is I guess on more won't hurt. That's the Bungie mentality. But if the one mores keep adding up you end up with D2 Forsaken.

    • First of all k/d is meaningless and if you think it’s not then you’re the problem and before you go checking my stats I’ll save you the trouble, I’ve played comp maybe 4 times, I give 0 fυcks about Luna’s howl or redrick’s butthole or whatever. I haven’t seen any posts that I can think of complaining about “how hard” comp is thou, it’s mostly people complaining about all the lag and rampant cheating that goes on in comp, seems like something worth looking into on bungie’s part. Again let me make clear that I could not care less because I don’t play comp but it seems like only someone who’s benefited from cheatery would want things to stay the same.

      • I completely agree. I’m not the best player ever but I’m definitely a decent amount above average and I thought the Luna’s grind was actually really easy. Once you get on a streak it’s just a matter of time before you’ve got enough points.

      • Just make it so losing glory isn't a thing just like valor. Problem solved. You go up with wins and go no where with losses. 5500 will still be a ridiculous grind that not very many people will achieve. Who will this hurt? No one. Well besides elitists but who cares about them.

        I feel like I’m a slightly above average player, and I managed to get Luna’s mostly solo queuing. And while it was frustrating I feel like it did make me a better player and overall I did enjoy it. I agree with your post and think that people need to just stop complaining and play the game. If they want something they can’t just come to the forums, make a post, and expect for it to magically happen. [spoiler]also, congrats on not forgotten[/spoiler]

      • Is it posible bungie puts you on a shit list? I won 5 games in the last 20, 1 in the last 11. I know shaxx says persistence is key, but I think my persistence is working against me.

      • I would like to say comp has possibly the worst matchmaking ever. I was at 2k points earlier today and now I'm down to 1700. 13 losses in a row. I hate comp now and its a sign I'm never getting Luna without spending money

        • Your argument is weak asf. I have the hours logged. I have the pain in my wrist to prove I've grinded competitive ever since Forsaken dropped. My KD is trash because of that grind. Your text is condescending. Go live stream yourself soloing 15 straight matches. Right now!!! No video editing. No teams. We will prove what we are saying. Your kd and rank will sink like the titanic Until you live stream solo. You are saying nothing

            Most games with a competitive ranking system have a solo que allowing solo players to go against each other, just sayin. They should just keep a comp system for fireteams to play against each other and give each other a challenge. Wait time might suck for them but i'm sure they are willing to wait for a challenging experience.

            • Most of the people complaining about comp probably aren't great players ( comp isn't hard). Saw someone not wanting to lose glory on loss ( lol) comp does have problems with population on the higher end at 5500 you can match the same people a few times in a row. 2100 glory is very doable find a team and dont play brain dead.

            • I don’t think the Luna’s needs to be made easier. I say this as a solo, and I’m really terrible at PvP. I don’t deny it. Competitive game after game, my fireteam gets wrecked(very often a fireteam of only 3 people. Thanks Bungie) My corpse gets teabagged mercilessly. I get dab emoted whenever someone manages a chaperone headshot from 20 feet away. I run in fear constantly as someone Nova Bubbles around the map and vaporizes my team. All this struggle, and I’m only about halfway through the Solar kills portion. But I noticed something funny happen the other day when I decided to take a break from competitive and went into QP. I started doing good. Like, way better than I used to. It was a really nice change. I’ll get the Luna’s eventually. I don’t doubt it- but I know I have to put in the grind and I have to keep getting better. We only get better by playing better opponents, and that’s what this horrible Luna’s grind is all about.

                I am not good at crucible so guess what, I don’t chase quest that I likely won’t get completed. I also don’t bitch and moan about it. Even when I did care about my k/d and try, the best I carried was a 1.22k/d (not ka/d). To me, that’s not good enough to grind competitive for countless games and still have to depend on teammates to do their job as well. I like the quest I can do solo, that way it’s on me. Ace of Spades, got that quest completed before the change and had a satisfaction of getting it by myself. But to the OP’s point, take a good look at the Ace of Spades, everybody has it and nobody cares about it, don’t even see it in crucible very much. A weapon loses its appeal when EVERYONE can get it easily. Luna’s and broadsword should be hard, they should be for top tier players. I am not a top tier player and I’m 100% not concerned about what OTHER people have and weapons I’m likely not to get.

              • I do have Luna's Howl, I mostly play solo. Doesn't change the fact that the comp matchmaking is probably the worst matchmaking in the history of gaming. - Match teams after glory score and connection. - Equal fireteam sizes on both sides. - If someone leaves the game before it's started, cancel that game. Every other ranked PvP game I've played is able to do this, so why shouldn't Destiny?

                • We can see your stats as well. It looks like you pub stomp most of the time. It looks like when you go in solo you play as bout as well as everyone else. I average around a 2.0 eff as a solo player(before starting the grind for Luna). I’ve pub stomped too if I played that way all the time I’d have a 5.0 eff easily. But I don’t I play crucible solo 9 times out of 10. While I agree some players do need to get better and learn the game. The state of comp is dismal. Even if the people complaining suck they sure as hell can’t improve in the playlists current state.

                  • I have a 1.8 K/D and i'm already fabled on comp. I am at the last step of luna's and have been solo-ing most of my games. I can definetely hold my own and would call myself an above average player. But the thing that I hate the most about my solo queing experience is that I ALWAYS face 4 mans, not even the trash ones or the lfg ones but the really well coordinated team!!! That is unbelievable especially since it happens 90% of my games. When I play 4 man with my clan though, I always face blueberries and 2 mans, rarely ever 4 mans. Where's the logic in that???

                    • I don’t like Competitive. I see the rewards for playing Competitive. Oh well, I’m not going to suffer through [b][i]that[/i][/b] to get those rewards. I go back to my casual existence, no regrets. ~~~~ As long as people expect to be able to claim [b][i]every single bit of loot in the game[/i][/b], a sense of entitlement will remain prevalent in Destiny. I just remember that for every one player that complains about the struggle to get a certain reward from Competitive or the Raids or Nightfalls, there are players who rose to the challenge (maybe with a few gripes). If it’s worthwhile to you, you’ll suffer for it. Or it’s Malfeasance, in which case...please rework it.

                        • Just. Do. Away. With. Loss. Penalties. Make a separate playlist for the aholes that want to whack each other off with loss penalties. Season 3 told the story of how bad this model is and how much of a ghost town competitive became.

                          I have run one and only one competitive crucible match so obviously I am an absolute genius when it comes to game design and weapon balance. My finding are [spoiler]nerf fusion rifles[/spoiler]

                        • K/d really isn’t that meaningful in pvp anymore, especially competitive. When break through was in the playlist 4 stacks were farming k/d and kills for Luna for upwards of 30 mins in matches. I personally got stuck in a BT match for 45 mins being farmed by a 4 stack when i was solo. The game launched with me being solo as the other 3 in queue canceled when they saw a 4 stack. That alone can tank someone’s k/d or inflate it. I literally watched an episode of homeland while they killed me in spawn until they finally finished off the match. Lol I actually like where comp is atm even playing solo the majority of the time. I do think they need to adjust the points gained and lost to reflect performance. I managed to go 3/5 1vs4 in a countdown match and it hurt to see those points roll off. As many have said it wouldn’t be remotely hard to implement a system similar to OW in terms of points earned and lost. It also wouldn’t be hard to implement match making similar to Ow where teams are queued with teams and singles and doubles are queued together. It would need tweaking as ow is 6v6 but still it wouldn’t be hard.
