Something is off with Destiny 2

I don't know what it is exactly, but you guys broke the spell somehow. The gameplay is the same, though a bit slower feeling due to requirement of stacking mobility to achieve D1 speeds. The weapons and abilities are either just as good or more interesting. The visuals are solid, music, voices, etc.... all good. But for some reason, I don't feel like playing. PvP is still hot garbage. I always disliked PvP for one reason alone - latency issues. The inconsistency of it drives me mad. When I am playing a round of PvP and the time it takes to kill my opponents varies widely between all members of the opposing team, it can be confusing and exhausting. In the same match, I will have one guy who can seemingly kill me in two shots, his teammate who somehow magically takes twice as long to kill as everyone else, one guy who seems ok and the last one will be warping around and dying to my bullets 4 seconds after he kills me. PvP is way too frustrating for me to enjoy, so that is definitely a turn-off. And no, its not MY internet that's causing issues. It is your garbage method of hosting p2p instead of dedicating servers. BF1 is a way more consistent experience. Loot changed a lot in D2. The vendors associated with each zone were a nice addition and paired well with the token scheme. The problems I am having recently revolve mostly around the RNG of it all. Tokens are great, but they need to feel rewarding. If the engrams reward duplicates over and over, or never ever ever give me the one item I am really interested in... the whole system falls apart. Fix the RNG and stop trying to control the drop rates like they must be trickle-fed as if we are all playing video poker. This is a game where gear is supposed to matter and if you withhold an item that I believe is needed to achieve my goals, I will stop playing. So I think those are the two negative things happening in both PvP and PvE which are turning me away from Destiny. I hope you can find some way of fixing one or both in the near future.

D2 is a very shallow grind, you can hit level cap pretty fast, which is fine with me, I don't mind that part. The part that bothers me is that there's a large portion of the game that is practically pointless once you've hit a high enough level. I have never played a normal strike outside of unlocking the nightfall. Literally everything you do provides almost no benefit to progression unless it's a weekly milestone. Plenty of fun things to do, just no reason to do them. Go to any planet or strikes and grind it, you get tokens, pass in your tokens for gear that's lower than your level, dismantle it (unless it's something you want/never had), get gunsmith parts, take to gunsmith, get more things lower than your level, dismantle for more parts, and continue the cycle until you've cleaned your inventory, wasn't that fun? Not really. Destiny has the same problem that Destiny 1 had for the longest time, relevant content. Not lack of content mind you, but how relevant current content is. D1 for the longest time had plenty of things to do, but those things just didn't give you any gear the helped progress your level or character after you got so far and after each expansion. But you could customize your character more based on random rolls where everything was at least something you'd investigate to see if the stats were better for your build. They fixed this eventually where leveling up vendors gave you packages that would actually progress your character in light or be on par if you were level cap (and you still had the option to buy things from them at a locked light level). D2 now has this problem again that they had already fixed, every single vendor after a certain point will always give you something 5-10 power below your level, everything has fixed perks so there's no real customizing. After that point you need to rely on the weekly luminous engrams. For someone like me who is stuck at 304, needs one chest piece to hit cap, gets everything at 294 (even exotics), and can't get it from luminous engrams for some reason is just stuck. If I could hit level cap I would at least have reason to go to other planets and grind for the rare opportunity that a vendor is offering 300 engrams and be able to level up the rest of my gear. But as it stands now there is nothing for me to do besides wait until reset on tuesday, be disappointed, and have to wait again, just like I did in D1 vanilla. Only place I will disagree is weapons/abilities. Some abilities are a bit more interesting, like the warlock being able to charge his grenade or consume it is really cool. But there's no customizing subclasses, you pick one group of 4 abilities or the other, why can't I mix and match? Also the guns... man... you can't even compare to D1 legends like VoC and Fatebringer, Fang, Gally, Icebreaker etc. Guns that were from vanilla that are still some of the best guns in Destiny to this day.
