I hope Destiny 2 is a little more "open world"
I took this screenshot, and it has me thinking. Zelda has the "If you see it, you can go there." motto, I don't want D2 to be like that, I just want patrols to be more fulfilling than just doing bounties and public events. Bungie did an amazing job with the landscape and draw distances, it's a shame we don't get to fully explore them.
Destiny is a shared world shooter/MMO hybrid, whatever, but it's so limited. They dropped last gen, so there's more power to do more in the game, I just hope they put it to good use. The way D1 is ending is how I think D2 should begin, with more openness. I can't express that enough.
Even with all the nerfs, complaints, exclusive content, etc. Destiny at its core is a great game. Bungie is a talented developer and they nailed the mechanics and gunplay to a T. I hope they don't scrap what they've built and ruined the formula.
I don't care what platform people play on, we're all part of the Destiny community and as a community need to push Bungie to make D2 the best it can be. Destiny, as it is now, is because we as a community asked for it, and Bungie listened. They delivered albeit bad timing. I honestly think Age of Triumph is a great send off to Destiny 1.
I hope Bungie takes that and makes it the heart of Destiny 2, with an actual story of course. Some people won't agree with me and that's fine, we're all entitled to our own opinions.
EDIT: Surprisingly everybody agrees with this thread. I know Destiny 2 is practically finished, but a game like this would be so much more immersive. Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone.

Did someone say Breath of the Wild? 😉 150 hours in BoTW but update coming tomorrow. Time for me to return and have my final send off to Destiny. Also, I find it troubling that people keep speculating that D2 will have an identical launch to D1. We can just ignore TTK & RoI. Those never happened.

Imagine a destiny game with, of course, multiple planets, each with as much explorable space as BoTW. I just like exploring.

At least need an explanation of the killzones. Borderlands did it with giant turret towers.

3 RepliesIf it is then expect no 60fps on consoles and less PvP. If they're looking to capitalize on it's Twitch success then I'd expect a more linear PvE with better story and an even more competitive and balanced PvP system. They learned micro transactions can be successful as well and I can see that being heavy influence.

19 RepliesBefore Destiny Launched people were hoping for Borderlands. What i wanted was the game they kept talking about. At launch Destiny was not that game. Shell game that hopefully will not be repeated but it has hurt DLC's and my image of bungie as a trustworthy company that has its product done. I don't want a meal that costs more for the same hamburger i could get at fast food restaurant. You can market it and make it any way you want but if you want to be unique you need to think outside the box. I still refuse to spend one penny on Destiny. I am not going to tell you what to buy or who to listen to but it comes down to moving forward. Unless that happens then sadly it will be more of the same. If they allowed you to craft things and trade i could consider destiny but until that time nope for me. Also i take into account they lied last time but that would be an endless argument with people who can't read or can't ask questions on how i know this. So when it comes down to it i rather not eat a hamburger that i could get any place whole and not have to buy its parts no matter how you dress it up. One thing i hate more than anything is people selling a lie.

You know what i think?? There should be more stuff at the reef. i also think that the one place at the tower, just behind Xander-99, [b]SHOULD BE -blam!-ING FINISHED ALREADY[/b]. I want to see what's gonna be there already!!!!!!! I literally check every week, but it's never finished.

Caverns, caves, fight above ground, fight below ground, huge maps within the game. Single player campaign is AMAZING !

1 ReplyI really hope they don't balance D2 the same as D1, as that was the only thing that ruined a lot of the gameplay for me. If they separate pvp and pve balance changes, and even if they don't have dedicated servers and no open world, I will be happy. If I can depend on the consistency of my gear and abilities throughout the lifespan of D2, in the pve content, that would make so much of a difference for me personally. I don't want rotating metas for pve content. It doesn't work for pve. Pvp is fine but that concept doesn't work for pve. I like to figure out a guns mechanics and the ability mechanics, and just be able to continue to develop my skills with them, than to have them change up on us every few months with nerfs and buffs. I don't want to have to relearn new gameplay mechanics every few months again like in D1. That just isn't fun for me at all! I think a more open world would be nice but Bungie has made balance changes one of the highest priorities on my list for D2 requirements. I wish that wasn't the case but Bungie created this mess and now they have to deal with it. I hope they don't think this is all just going to disappear and people will forget with a new Destiny game. We are all watching them very closely and with a magnifying glass. Hopefully they realize the importance of a balance separation in the new game or D2 will definitely just be more of the same shenanigans.

2 RepliesI hope destiny 2 has something similar to Mass effect andromeda planet travel system but destiny style. Also the open worlds in Mass effect are beautiful and large. Just saying. I am a beta player for destiny so when I say I am knees deep in Mass effect Andromeda that's a good thing Bungie should eye ball.

An open world would be very interesting, expand patrol into a more noticeable experience, with no death barriers and such. Even if they didn't add more things, it would be nice to ride around on your sparrow and just admire the graphics the game has to offer. Even turn off hud for beautiful experience.

I would like there to absolutely be more to patrol, 6 person patrol, more things to do, flawless immersion between missions and public spaces, however I don't really want a massive open world game. I almost feel tired with it. Between Skyrim and DAI and Mass Effect, I'm open worlded out lol. That's not to say I want smaller maps, I like the patrol now but it could be bigger with more stuff to look around for, just not so massive I can fully level in patrol before touching the campaign
