Not my words, those of the Bungie lead pvp designer, Mantis:

It's attitudes like that which make me throw money at the screen
Edit:
Another thread in #Destiny, started before mine about the same tweet, if people want to see others thoughts, and share their ideas their too:

Edited by Bicepus Maximus: 10/24/2016 2:35:46 AMEvery other game provides lobbies and players set up tourneys to determine the best and in game items are never gated by pvp content. That is to get that gun in Cod or BF1 you play the game and over time earn it but everyone who enjoys the game can obtain it because the benchmark is attainable by everyone. It just takes longer for others. Trials is failed content that is so poorly implemented it increased cheating. It has created a cesspool of kids selling time to help others finish content. It diminishes the game and ruins it for millions who play.

P.s. You don't have to go flawless to get the gear. My 12 year old can 7 wins

Yet they are quite happy to push trials and its gear in DLC advertisement and promotion and have those average players pay for it.

Edited by Pondwater: 10/24/2016 2:07:53 AMI just made it today with two of my buddies today it wasn't that bad coms is everything

It's like the Black Spindle quest of last year . . . If you want it bad, you're going to have to struggle and learn how to get better and finally achieve it. And it's when you finally get that achievement after weeks or months, that's when you feel the satisfaction of a mission accomplished.

Edited by Xii Alpha iiXx: 10/24/2016 1:25:35 AMIdk what is going on lately but I have played ToO with two group of kids. The one crew aren't horrible but not great, we walked into the light house. My normal crew who have two very good players and an average player are having great difficulty. We have so many laggy games compared to my other two friends. We didn't face anyone like this. I swear something has been changed. The crew with the good players, every game from the first to last is unbelievably sweaty. We don't walk over anyone. I find things be very odd. I'm not sure if they have changed matchmaking or what but jesus. This is insane. Hardest ToO has ever been with my normal crew and a piece of cake with kids who never play ToO? Something is wrong here.

The lighthouse is a goal that you work towards, and it can be achieved by any group that works for it... What the Derek is saying is that they didn't design ToO for any player to go in, and be able to go to the lighthouse, they have to progress out of the "average" player category with their team... When I started Destiny's PvP I was a 0.60 kd player that got wrecked by everyone, and now I'm slightly above average with a 1.1-1.3kd between both consoles... I didn't get to where I am because of natural skill, I put a ton of time into getting better at PvP... It was ToO that motivated me to even play PvP seriously... Posting this with the idea that Derek is somehow an elitist jerk is an attempt to make him look bad... So to those complaining that ToO is broken, should look at the multiple posts of players who did put in the work, and eventually achieved the "ultimate victory" and realize they all started out as "average players"...

I absolutely agree with this. Skill should get you there. It's funny however that they have taken the opposite approach with PVE, making it easy for the average, and less than average player to level up, have access to everything.
-
This tweet or whatever it was made me happy. Pvp should be about skill, not just giving everyone a trophy.

Is this new, groundbreaking information?
the answer is no
