Yet they are quite happy to push trials and its gear in DLC advertisement and promotion and have those average players pay for it.

  • Equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome. You paid for the opportunity to go flawless, you didn't pay to be given loot. If it was the other way around every player would be given everything no matter the time or skill involved.

  • What if those average players who have no hope of getting to the lighthouse don't want to pay for the chance to do something they can't do? It makes sense to think that DLC's would be just a little cheaper if trials wasn't in it. I'm not saying people should be given free stuff, I'm saying they should have the option not to pay towards a game mode they may not want or be good at.

  • No just no, DLC shouldn't be cheaper based on personal preference. Bungie outlines what is in the DLC, if you don't/can't use it based on circumstances only you can control that is too bad. So if I buy a gym membership but I can't bench press should I be expected to pay less than other people who can bench press? It makes no sense.

  • well it is a part of the game just like the hard raid... not many people will ever finish that.

  • Most who don't raid don't do it mainly because they are solo players who can't/wont find a team to do it with. More players will do hard raid than go genuine flawless (not including carries) because PVE is easier than PVP.

  • I am an average pve player. I can't do the raid. They need to make it easier so I can get the content that I paid for. Do you see how stupid you sound?

  • A. I didn't once say make trials easier. Learn to read because it makes you look stupid otherwise. B. If you can go flawless in trials or are just good at PvP, you can do any pve activity in Destiny. PvP is harder, PvE has predictable enimies and mechanics that are easy to learn.

  • They kinda did make it easier by making getting to recommend light so easy now. I Remember doing VoG as a 26-27 and the only way to get higher was do the raid my God that shit was epic.

  • Oh man and after 2 months of doing raid, still needing gloves to hit max light. I remember the rage of only getting ascended materials instead of gear for 2 weeks. These year 2 peeps have it made!

  • Yep. If Trials isn't for average players it needs to be removed from the DLC's, which get a price reduction of about £/$5, then trials gets sold seperatly for £/$5. That way those average players who have no right (apparently) to get to the lighthouse and get that gear aren't contributing to the development of said gear.

Of course they do. That was the whole point of making Trials... Derek is only reiterating the truth of what they've always intended it for.

  • Which is an unfair attitude when average players money goes towards the development of trials. In fact, if Bungie made trials a separate paid for dlc, I wouldn't be surprised it most of those average players didn't buy it. And if you consider that the number of average player most likely greatly outnumbers those "elite" players, that would be bad news for bungies wallets, and trials existence.

  • By your logic, NF and raids should all be sold separately. In fact, anything hard should be sold separately if average players don't complete them.

  • Trials is by far the hardest thing in the game. If you can go flawless in that, you can do any PVE activity.

Your argument was that if Trials is hard for the average player/they can't do it, it should be sold separately. We know for a fact that 70+% of players never complete a single raid, yet their money also paid for all that content. By your logic, PvE activities that are hard and many people never complete because they're hard should also be sold separately.

  • First off, of that 70% most don't have the time or team to do a raid, but most of them would be able to complete a raid if they tried. Also, that's 30% that complete raids, compared to about 16% that make it flawless. Anyway, my main argument isn't that if trials is hard as such, it's that if Bungie intentionally made it so hard that the majority of their player base can't do it then that isn't right. A Bungie dev has publicly said that most players aren't meant to go flawless (most players are average), that's never been said about any raid. Basically, they want as many people as possible to do the raid (this shows in the lower difficulty of the current raid and ease of hitting max light level now) but they intentionally do not want most of their player base to go flawless in trials, despite the fact that the average players that can't do it are the majority and without them buying the DLC trials probably wouldn't exist, and most likely Destiny itself would die. In short, raids are not intended just for the elite players, but trials is. So trials should be a separate purchase just for the elite or those that want it.

  • In any case it's still the truth and there's nothing wrong with it. Flawless is a pinnacle, not a participation reward, nor is it any more essential to the experience of the game than completing a hard mode raid is. Whatever factors that prevent people from reaching that pinnacle lies primarily on other players really, which doesn't support the need to sell it separately.
