Pop-sci media outlets over inflate shit and jump to conclusions about random fluctuations in some measurement all the time, and people think it's reliable information because they've dubbed themselves as "science." Here's a protip: a ground-based telescope is not going to find aliens. Done deal. There is simply too much shit in the way.
