I don't send messages whether they are good or terrible or whatever. I also have my console set to block all incoming messages from anyone who isn't on my friend list. I don't care to hear what someone else's opinion is and I'm not interested in being friends. I play the game for me and only me.

Don't know, don't care, honestly. I figure anybody who likes what I'm doing will send me a friend request, and most of the time that works out. I've got a few people i fireteam with semi-regularly that i talk to now. Other than that though, i don't really want to hear from randoms, good or bad.
