This could be the most epic Bungie burn to date

Chill set to None It would seem that a few of this community's finest have rustled jimmies over my post. I am sorry if I have offended you in some manner, twas not my intention. I am simply here to entertain. Stop taking yourself and this game seriously for a moment and you might witness a smirk come cross your face.

For some background, I'm one of those 'lost souls' who left with relative haste after a few months of TTK. For me at least, I hit a sudden combo of "AHA!"/brick wall and realized my ROI (enjoyment vs time spent) and dwindled drastically. PVE had long since become an old and stale grind while PVP was sort of an Ash Ketchum "I wanna be, the very best..." which switched crucible from a fun, competitive environment to a rage-fueled "No F'n way he got that shot off!" experience. I dived into fallout, witcher, dragon age, and I'm having a blast (though I do miss some of my squad buddies). Now and then I silently browse the forums to see if there's anything new worth trying out. Now here's what I have to say. The lack of content available to us is unacceptable given that this game is meant to have an MMO feel. However, the level of content demanded by the community would require a dev team vastly larger (and pricier) than that available to Bungie. Rock and a hard place, no? I've only ever tried out one other (if you want to count destiny as an MMO...) MMO, and that's Eve. Eve did a lot wrong, but got one thing spectacularly right - devs don't create the story (the bulk of it, at least); the players do. Being able to run or be part of a corporation which controls its own chunk of space allows the players to engage in real politics, trade, turf battles, etc. The upshot to the player base is that the story never ends. You're never (not entirely true - NPC quests get old) running through the same slog over and over. On the dev side, it's obvious - they don't NEED to craft more content to keep the story alive! Sit back, watch, maintain, and occasionally create when a good new idea comes to mind. I think destiny could similarly benefit from this model. How about large expanses that large groups of players could claim? Maybe there wouldn't be player competition over the land (we're all on the same side. but maybe they would?), but you could defend from the ever-present enemy threat. If enough players abandon this land and their duties, the place falls into disarray and the populations you've protected suffers. Take this last paragraph as a branch-thought, not the entirety of the idea. TLDR - lay down an environment in which players can craft their own story (beyond "this is how I got MY Gjallarhorn..."). this could relieve a fair amount of the content drought without putting excess long-term strain on the devs. Plus, I'm under the impression that this is sort of what players thought they'd be getting

What I don't understand is that the main vanilla story only takes around 6 hrs to beat... Of course this was prior to the HoW and TDB but still that is unacceptable. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was criticized for this back in 2009 and still you make an incomplete game. Pushing back the launch deadline such as Final Fantasy 13 which is now 15, began development in 2006 and is still not out yet, would have been disgusting but at least the final product would have been great. Its simple if Bungie needs more people for more content then hire more people. If you need to spend more to make more profit over the long run that is better then blundering away what could have been one of the greatest games in order to make an initial bump in revenues. This is what happens when older people who have no idea what video games are about and the best way to approach them make the decisions at the top. They are looking for the money, but consumer loyalty has been proven to keep companies around the longest and produce the most profit. This would all be acceptable if you listen to your gosh darn community. Don't dictate what your community wants or needs. I saw a post from a developer about the design restraints on crimson doubles; your kidding me! Design restraints?????? We can send men to the moon and you have design restraints on a video game!??!?!?!? Wow. They seem to think that no one else with any more intelligence then they, have purchased this game. Simply put.... Your primary investors aka the people who are buying your game and not the people with suits in your corporate offices are telling you how the game should play out and you refuse to listen. Last time I saw a company that did not listen to its primary investors the investors stopped investing. Just saying. Oh and another thing... Just because everyone in the community is not employed by Bungie doesn't mean that they are stupid. You belittle the community when you give brief details and ambiguous information. Maybe start a developers blog, where the actual developers can talk about all the development woes which are ailing them. As a matter of fact this might help you outsource solutions to problems from other developers that are playing your video game. The power of community is a hell of a lot more powerful then the few thousand you may or may not have working for your studio.

I've probably played this game more than the "Game of the Year" titles.
Because let's face it, we've been screwed over worse by other developers and have probably paid more money for shittier games, yet this level of inflated quasi-entitlement seems to be contained exclusively in the Bungie community, so let's work together and nip it in the butt before it spreads to other gaming communities - The Divisions coming soon, we don't want to see this toxicity in the Ubisoft forums do we?...even if they did place core character data client-side....f****** idiots.
