What I don't understand is that the main vanilla story only takes around 6 hrs to beat... Of course this was prior to the HoW and TDB but still that is unacceptable. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was criticized for this back in 2009 and still you make an incomplete game. Pushing back the launch deadline such as Final Fantasy 13 which is now 15, began development in 2006 and is still not out yet, would have been disgusting but at least the final product would have been great. Its simple if Bungie needs more people for more content then hire more people. If you need to spend more to make more profit over the long run that is better then blundering away what could have been one of the greatest games in order to make an initial bump in revenues. This is what happens when older people who have no idea what video games are about and the best way to approach them make the decisions at the top. They are looking for the money, but consumer loyalty has been proven to keep companies around the longest and produce the most profit. This would all be acceptable if you listen to your gosh darn community. Don't dictate what your community wants or needs. I saw a post from a developer about the design restraints on crimson doubles; your kidding me! Design restraints?????? We can send men to the moon and you have design restraints on a video game!??!?!?!? Wow. They seem to think that no one else with any more intelligence then they, have purchased this game. Simply put.... Your primary investors aka the people who are buying your game and not the people with suits in your corporate offices are telling you how the game should play out and you refuse to listen. Last time I saw a company that did not listen to its primary investors the investors stopped investing. Just saying. Oh and another thing... Just because everyone in the community is not employed by Bungie doesn't mean that they are stupid. You belittle the community when you give brief details and ambiguous information. Maybe start a developers blog, where the actual developers can talk about all the development woes which are ailing them. As a matter of fact this might help you outsource solutions to problems from other developers that are playing your video game. The power of community is a hell of a lot more powerful then the few thousand you may or may not have working for your studio.

dude, it doesn't work that way...the corporate guys making the "desicions" have advisors, developers, designers, etc...who are way more knowledgeable about things like what types of games and modes work best, technical design know-how and all that other stuff...the decison-makers weigh all the factors and advice and thenmake the decision they think is in the company's best interest...sometimes they make the wrong decisions, everyone would...however, its not as if its one old man at the top putting in his two cents on how a game should be made...Activision bought bumgie and said "make a great game and we will handle the marketing, advertising, etc...when we see the sales, we will tell you whether or not you should add monetizing properties to it and how we can raise sales and you guys design whatever you need to in order to make that happen...this isn't just video games, this is literraly how all successful corporations run things..the owner or CEO always hire people for specific positions in which they have more experience and expertise...another of your points I want to refute is where you said they are full of it on the design and program restrictions...have you developed games for any of the 4systems that destiny plays on? I would highly doubt it and as such you have no basis for "calling their bluff" when they say they had restrictions...they could be full of it but you or I don't have the expertise to call them liars...my money would be on the 360 and ps3 being the "restrictions" honestly...they have held back a lot of other stuff because of those 2 systems otherwise, I agree. they need to be more transparent in communicating with the community...they should listen and try to implement anything the majority is asking for, within reason...they should also be telling us anything important that we need to know...some of you guys just go way too hard on them...they are humans too and make mistakes like the rest of us...a lot of the accusations and complaints have no basis in truth or areade to be the end of the world for simply being a change that individual doesn't like...this forum is filled with people who assume their opinion is shared universally and/or mistake their opinion for fact when its truly just an opinion...its good to see how many have passion for Destiny, the problem is they channel it into anger , which should be the opposite of why they play this game

  • You are totally right about my experience developing for any of those systems as my limited development knowledge is based on PC experience; however, even if the 3's and 360's are holding back the development process then let the community know, such as your comment about transparency. As far as CEOs and business models are concerned I have been through more meetings then I can count with a fair share of different companies. Usually the way more knowledgeable people are snuffed out, but not all time. In the corporate world you'll find out that most companies do not listen as well as you think although there are some. Some companies are very good about listening to others but, in my experiences, most are not. I live right next to Silicon Valley and have been in meetings with countless tech firms which have done well and have done bad. You talk about successful corporations who have followed the same business models for the last 100 years or so and while they have had a lot of success, people are getting smarter then they were 100 years ago. Technology is changing the world is changing and so therefore the business models need to change. The same things that works 10 years ago do not work today.

which people is it you want them to listen to? the group who every time they die wants something nerfed? The people who feel their favorite class deserves a buff? The part of the community that wants secondary ammo back in PvP The group that wanted it removed? The players who want more PvP? The players who want less PvP? The players who want more PvE? The players who think PvE is a waste of time and a grind fest? Here is where Bungie is at fault, and the number one thing that folks have a legitimate complaint. They have not outlined their own vision of the game and where they plan to take it. But there is far too much noise on these forums to shout "LISTEN TO US!!!" since the "us" in this case is not a consensus on any one issue.

  • Well ultimately a majority. Maybe some more market research would be helpful. You can't make everyone happy and unfortunately game balancing will be something that plagues every MMO. As far as PVP goes it will always be a mess because your right there are too many people that complain about a weapon being too overused. That's more of a cultural thing then anything and the natural evolution of humans to be competitive. No one wants to suck at PVP but for most people, instead of finding a gun you like and sticking with it most people earn for that artificial pat on the back from a high K/D ratio. Certain guns have a higher time to kill then others but if you put any gun in a skilled players hands, he will be able to beat out anyone. There are videos on YouTube of challenges where people have gone flawless in a trials run when the entire group was using No Land Beyond as there primary. As far as PVP vs PVE content goes. They simply need more of both. They should have a team working on PVP content which they do and a team working on PVE content, which they also have. It's just the slow time it takes for them to produce something. A roadmap would be much appreciated. Honestly even a roadmap would satiate the hunger of most for the time being but they don't even listen to that. Give people a simple roadmap of where the game is going in the next year and stick to it. A lot of people will hold off buying a new phone even though their old phone is broken as long as a company comes out and states that "we have a new phone that will be release on March 31st and here are the specs!" This would likely be enough. "US" doesn't have to be a consensus; honestly, just a majority. While it's hard to get feedback through polls and reach your entire community, it's easy to see the data that they already have. Hmmm notice that the sun breaker Titan special killed 50 percent of all people in PVP well it's time to nerf it. They don't necessarily need to listen to all the whining complaints just look at their own data. They did a great job with the special ammo and if you read the reasons they did that it would be the first time they actually communicated clearly on a subject. They got rid of special ammo at the beginning only in some matcha because they found out, from using player data, that people would get secondary kills way to quick and consistently at the start of matches. If you think about it, it's a damn secondary and shouldn't be your primary when you start the round. You don't go to a gun slinger battle in the old west with a damn sword; you will dies quick and painfully. As far as the removal of the special ammo goes, and we have to realize that this did not happen in all modes, they used data they had at their disposal and make a good argument for their decisions. Now I tell you aside from all the complaining about this and that. What people seem to have in common is more content! Give people more content. They did great in y1 with amount of content releases but then said it was impossible to sustain. Obviously not since they were doing it in y1. I understand you can't make everyone happy but for success you better make the majority happy, and constantly have people focused on certain elements of development like balancing.

  • OK let's say they put it all to a vote. 40% want more PvP and 60% want more PvE are you saying they ignore 40% of their playerbase? do they have to put every decision to a vote? How about Sunbreaker buff? nerf? leave alone? That's not the way it works. What does work is detailing your plan and then letting people make their decisions based on that. If Bungie were to tell you: PvP is a easier for us to put out on more consistent bases so we will be adding more of that, but we do plan to add PvE updates 3-4 times a year. That is information you can use. If you do not play PvP you take a break from the game until the next PvE patch you know is coming. If you PvP hey life's great.. But at least you know. Here is the hard truth, your box purchase did not pay for unlimited content and multiple teams of coders to work on every aspect of the game simultaneously. This is a game when you run out of content, play something else. Some folks around here seem to believe Bungie is somehow responsible for their gaming entertainment for the rest of their lives because they bought a game and a few DLC's. All I believe is reasonable to ask is. "What are you doing and when do you plan to do it?" That's where Bungie is at fault. I couldn't figure out how to attach a picture but what's missing from this game is this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v520/frnorth/Bungie_zpspvzd4lbw.jpg

  • While I will disagree with the 60/40 percent comment, because you do not need people's actual vote, you can see it in the backend data; I will agree with the rest of what you say. The game would probably be much better if it was subscription based. But that opens a different can of worms.
