As a fan of nightstalker, I've used this class more than any other since TTK was released. It is more challenging than other classes in PvP...because all its super is, is a glorified suppression grenade!
The nightstalkers super ability is completely underwhelming compared to hammers and stormtrance. Even with quiver for 3 shadowshots, the shadowshot is not powerful enough to kill another classes super with 1 direct shot. When a super is designed to end other players supers, it is completely useless if it cannot excel at doing what it was designed to do!!!
The activation time of the tether takes infinitely too long, which results in wasting the super 9 times out of 10 and either getting killed by the super you intended to stop, or shot to death after your tether activates.
The damage of a direct hit should be buffed to be at least on par with golden gun, seeing as it should be a viable option to go on a killstreak!
Titans will survive a direct hit with tether while using hammer of sol, and since the activation takes too long, they have enough time to kill you with their super.
Defender Titans bubbles cannot be broken with tethers. Also, tethering the defender titan inside his bubble will not shut down his super! This means that the tether can't even effectively do the job it was meant to do!
Warlocks using stormtrance can kill you while in the bow animation, because it has no shield.
Sunsingers self rez will survive a tether direct shot.
Did I mention, nightstalkers have no overshield of any sort!!! During the shadowshot animation, we become frozen in one spot, and the enemy can quickly kill you before it even shoots off a single arrow! You basically become a floating sniper target
Enemies that lag make shadowshot useless, as you will shoot them directly, and it will not register as a direct hit.
Also, the shield recovery times for nightstalkers are dreadful with maxed armor. Probably the worst recovery in the game...
Everything about this class is weaker than other subclass options, other than the poison grenades.
The minute I switch to my stormcaller or titan, PvP becomes much easier, because both of their supers allow for quick and easy kills for a short time.
Nightstalkers don't have the ability to get quick easy kills. The tether will get a maximum of 3 kills, while both hammers and stormtrance have potential to wreck the entire battlefield for a few moments.
Buff the nightstalker class! Its hard enough to aim shadowshot without tethering the damn ceiling or wall right next to you. The least it could do is be a 1 hit kill directly to any super, and activate immediately on a hit!
Is that too much to ask?!!!
EDIT: Some decent arguments going on here.
Most agree that the tether activation time needs buffed.
Also, anyone else notice that both of the other "support" classes have overshields, but the nightstalker didn't get one?
EDIT: What is with all the hate on these forums nowadays?!!! For christ sake it's a discussion about a video game. Stop burning this community to the ground by trying to be such smart asses about everything!
EDIT: Glad some of you are being civil about the argument.
Once again, majority of people are saying that the activation time of the tether is the biggest issue at the moment...I agree.

I agree about the about the activation time it's slow but it's also suppose to make you think about your shots a well placed shot will tether a lot of enemies and end supers. As far as defender titan's go it's not suppose to stop it. Once a super is used it's used a bubble just sits there I'd you're that worried about hit him after the bubble is gone
-
Are u kidding, nightstalker cancels any super, slows the enemy down and makes the screen different colors, they go invisible and can shoot 3 bows.
-
Nightstalker is awesome, idk what you're doing wrong. Watch some videos on it, guides, gameplay, etc. They're great
-
Here's an idea, instead of rushing in on someone that popped a super, run away and pop the tether somewhere else, like around a corner. I know that this is harder, but you gotta suck it up.
-
Hey just be fine with not having a top tier pvp subclass for now.
-
So you basically want to take a defenders ALREADY useless super out because why again? Was having 3 good subclasses to choose from not enough for your precious lil hunter?
-
Totally agree, you can shoot a HoS Titan directly, and the Titan will have time to look at you, kill you, and run away before the tether even activates. Completely useless in PVP, PVE its amazing.
-
Wrong they excel in team play and have a great super for other players on your team to bask in. I will give you that it needs to activate instantly but other then that you are wrong.
-
Didn't even read the post. Night stalkers don't need a buff. They excel in PvE, where they are meant to be used. And they are still decent in PvP. I fail to see any issue with them.
-
I agree suppression should be instantaneous, hit a Sunsinger in trials today in mid super, he just walked right through the direct hit and proceed to one shot melee me from crazy range, and never got tethered first nor last..... Call it lag or whatever but that super should have been shut down.
-
If you tether them they should die.

Edited by Vegalink: 11/22/2015 11:51:37 PMOther than stopping a defender super that sounds fine by me. Leave the only non offensive super alone please. You say Nightstalkers only get like 3 kills per tether, but that is alot more than defenders average per super. Our main kills come from overconfident sunbreakers and stormcallers who forget we have supression grenades as they charge our bubble. By all means though let it destroy sunbreakers. I dunno about making it the same damage as GG though. That would sorta make GG pointless.
-
Honestly....other than not being able to discuss the "quiver" timing thing as I've not yet run shadowstalker - No....no buff nor nerf. I've been plenty a victim of these hunters and honestly...they are scary good. Like I said...quiver thing is up in the air....but honestly...I look forward to using this class ;)
-
We need one big change and one only direct hits should tether instantly and the suppression should be on par with suppression grenades. Also why does it take a super to destroy a bubble but, two shots from a shotgun or sniper to break the tether?
-
Just stop complaining and get good. The arrow is fine. Of course I would love for it to be more powerful, but as it is a support class, it works just fine. It is not meant to kill. You want to kill a titan, shoot arrow, roll around the corner, roll back and shoot said titan. Ez day.
-
Don't play it, use GG or blade Dancer. IT'S A SUPPORT CLASS. DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
-
It's a support class. Are you telling me sunsingers and defenders are more powerful? Because those are the subclasses you should be comparing to.
-
Let's Trade. You can have Flameseeker (Now Voidseeker?) I'll take that radar / hunting perk.
-
All I think the subclass needs is immediate tethering and maybe a larger smoke grenade radius.
-
First of all you get a 50% damage resist in the tether animation I am sure you have been shooting the hunter and he panic arrows you in the face. Second the super has incredible utility to control areas and shut down any super. The reason there is a delay is to stop panic arrows from being able to instantly shut down anyone. You can also spec for three tethers for three kills (the same as GG) and with the tether to make anyone nearby easy to kill. Good melee ability and good passive perks. What more do you want?
-
I guess you missed the fact that it's mainly a support class. Its offensive abilities will be limited since it's a support class after all, take the defender subclass for example.
-
I don't use Nightstalker, but I think tether should void-burn. Very difficult to get kills with that super other wise.
-
Edited by GalaxySpider: 11/22/2015 10:44:49 PMWhy bringing a PvE focused sub-class into PvP? The hunter nightstalker is designed for PvE and has little to no use in PvP cauz his other two sub-classes are basically made for PvP in mind already. Nightstalker is fine as it is IMO and shouldn't become another PvP monster.

I like to think night stalker is the opposite to sumbraker. Sumbraker have arguably the worst passive perk set in the game but makes up for it with a very powerful super. On the other hand night stalker has one of the best, if not the best passive perks in the game and a meh super. So I think there pretty well balanced Personally I don't care if night stalker gets a buff or if sumbraker gets a nerf, it's bungie's game and they can do what they want with it. I'm just stating my opinion
-
You're a liar! night stalkers definitely get an overshield
