Latest Taken King Info: Must See

Latest info to come out of the GI podcast. Lots of interesting questions were answered and their thinking that came out of those changes. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/podcasts/archive/2015/08/28/special-edition-podcast-destiny-the-taken-king.aspx Some of my fav info- -[b]The new light level system[/b] - less vertical climb more horizontal. Will be easier to attain high power gear which allows you to access higher content. The perfect piece of gear isn't just the high light level drops which take forever, but instead it will be stuff to make great load outs and more custom experiences. Also meaning were going to be getting a lot more hear to work with. - how you can easily progress your light level through regular play. No more Forever 29 - less of a power gap when fighting higher/lower light players. The increase in out/in from 29-30 was noticeable, so noticeable that for a while 29's were excluded from most content. You felt useless. No more. I just enjoy how the game is gonna feel less of a grind for necessity, as in we aren't simply playing alot to get that drop to be able to do higher activities, then once were there the allure is over. Gear finding and grinding in TTK will be easier, but we're going to be finding gear for different load outs to make us more effective at those activities. [b]Strikes and Raids[/b] - 3 strike playlists 1) legacy - year 1 content and playlist 2) vanguard normal - 200ish light recommended 3) Vanguard heroic -260ish light Recommended So legacy is year one stuff for those who haven't upgraded (I believe) Vanguard normal is the regular playlist without modifiers. However, while it may seem useless to do regular playlist at 260+ light, the drops will actually be scales to the appropriate level, as you and your fireteam will be matched accordingly to your light. Not sure if these means if there will be drops scaled More to YOU, or that when you play with a friend for example and he's 200 you're 250, the drops will be around 200 or they will be around 250. Guess we'll see, but it at least is saying that there will be still a point for you to run strikes. Vanguard Heroic, not much said, but assume modifiers and better rewards. - raids --> no new VoG or CE or PoE content. Still be giving you the same stuff it always did. Reasoning was that if they were to give you progression level gear, there would be too much to play and would interfere with real life stuff. Basically all old "end-game" content is there for intrinsic value and collectors. Sorry guys, no new VoG - not much said about Kings a Fall, except that it is dope. [b]Weapons and Gear[/b] - Gally and Icebreaker are too OP, they know it. "They became weapons that could solve problems. icebreaker promoted less engaging activity by allowing you to hide and slowly peck away at the bullet sponges. Gally is just the solution for everything." (Not an exact quote obvs). Also stated how it's a testament to how they had created year one. Year 2 they don't want anything to be the solution for everything, but everything to be the solution to something. Situational weapons, not must haves to join Joe and Bob for Skola. -3 new Scout Rifle Exotics- No MIDA year 2 -1 new pulse rifle only, A pimped out Stranglers Rifle "No Time to Explain" -broken up Holy trinity of Handcannons. -Letting everyone be able to use HawkMoon, Monte Carlo and 4th horseman. -no other news on exotics -no exotic Artifacts- Rare and Legendary only. Artifacts are like the jewel/ring slot, nothing cosmetic. They provide you with different ways to generate orbs of light ex. Killing with void damage, precision shots with x, melee kills with x, grenade kills with x. Gonna be a synergy type item for more customization. Were given our first one [b]Other news[/b] they stated how inferior Titans felt than other classes, although Defender Titan is a powerful PvE kit. Sunbreaker class is badass. Agreed. No plans for Barber Shops and other character re-customizAtion. They have a couple ugly characters too. Feel the pain but it's 100% not coming in TTK Etheric Light will have no trade in value, which means it will likely not be needed in any year 2 stuff. I'd say use them up now if you can. No officlal launch minute yet. Games gonna be badass. If anyone watches it too and says other interesting info I'll add it in here. Either way, it's just getting my hype levels higher. Gonna be dope. Fanboy out [i]May the light be with you [/i] Edit: some people still seem confused about how the light works now and think it's stupid. Instead of your light being only changed by tiers, like 29/30 it's now based on your defence stats from gear and attack stats from weapons. This creates less of a jump between levels and makes making progress on your character easier! Less power distance between players, less exclusion because you didn't get that drop. Obviously a "max light" character will be more powerful but there won't be such a significant gap between two players who have everything the same except one got the raid boots and the other didn't cuz of RNGesus Edit 2: Raiding and no more VoG! People seem to be complaining that they're "cutting" VoG, Crotas and PoE. They're still there. VoG will be just as useless to run in terms of progression as it always was for end gamers now. You can still play it for fun, that's what this games about, no? There will likely be a light level associated with it, say 200. You can just equip gear that will give you light level 200ish and go play it just how you always did! Come on, all you asking for VoG and Crotas to give end game loots... Be real. We've moved beyond those, we've all conquered them, now look to the future, and if you feel nostalgic throw on some green gear and go fight atheon, he'll try it without your gallys and icebreaker. Go try and kill him with a sword. But asking them to make it give end game gear, come on. You all ask for new stuff, we get some, but then the old stuff isn't new enough.   • Will Crota and Vog still give exotics than may be able to be upgraded into year two exotics? If so I dont see how theyre that obsolete.

    • ya the titian part is so bullshit I remember a time during the first cpl of weeks of CE where it was only titans and one SB hunter allowed in LFGs they made TItian's THE BEST PVE class by a mile and the fact its not the best in PVP by 2 miles pisses them off such BS

    • The biggest problems I think will happen with ttk: Boss health is shortened in strikes, but due to mechanics it will become a long and boring fight. You take a quarter damage, boss disappears, you run across map to pick up item, boss shows up, you get him to half, boss disappears, you run across map, kill adds, boss appears and rinse and repeat. You will have the same thing with will or crota or undying mind, awesome playing it once or twice but then you get undying kind and people quit. I think there is going to be a huge amount of recycled content. People who spent months grinding will get frustrated because they have to rock blue and green again. Essentially you will be starting from scratch. You will say but you can still use your year one weapon and gear, but year two blue and greens will beat them in every way. You put in 800 hours into a game, and one year later you are on the same level as someone who only played 20 hours. I preordered the game but don't anticipate playing it.

      • [b]Am I the only one bothered by the fact that:[/b] -making all Year 1 legendaries and exotics obsolete will mean [i]more grinding for "Destiny" veterans[/i], not less grinding; -the opportunities to receive Legendary marks are so limited that [i]replacing our legendary and exotic weapons and armor will take months[/i]; -[i]all the Year 1 content will be a waste of time[/i], meaning we will start Year 2 with [i]less[/i] worthwhile content than when we started Year 1; -Xbox players finally have the opportunity to use Hawkmoon, Monte Carlo, and The 4th Horseman [i]only after these weapons are made obsolete[/i] -How can we be excited by [i]gear that will become obsolete when the next expansion hits[/i]? Bungie's inversion of incentives has already killed player incentive to participate in Iron Banner. "Destiny" won't survive as a niche game.

        • I actually doubt that vog and crota light recommend us 200 cuz the weapons them self are 170 atk and the armour are less. 365 year 1= 170 in ttk.

        • If they wanted to keep the raids relevant they would add a new difficulty tier every couple of times the level caps get raised and anyone that wants the newer tiered weapons and armor would need to farm them again under the new difficulty. The raids won't be completely irrelevant, there are completionist people that want all of the trophies or want the Vex and Necrochasm, since those are the only places to get them (or the parts for them) they will remain relevant, just easily farmable.

        • People complaing about raids becoming irrelevant need to understand that this stuff happens in mmos all the time. The only for old gear to truly stay relevant is for them to add transmogging.

              Sucks they are not upgrading Crota and VoG. They are cutting the content of the game down. The new content will be ran through pretty fast and the game will be boring again in a month or two. Bad, lazy decisions by the Devs.

                  • They said there is no current exchange for etheric, but there may be one in the future, so don't waste it. Also, while they're thinking of the barbershop it's not a priority.

                                • Why are they making one of the greatest experiences in Destiny obsolete? I mean seriously? Raids are getting left behind? How does that even remotely make sense? We're trading in VOG, CE and POE for one new raid? So all the noobs that join when TTK comes out will never experience the Vault? That's just...idk man someone help me understand this. How hard would it have been to just add another tier of difficulty to them? That way at least there'd be some incentive to go back. Sure I get that they don't want it to feel like a "job" to us, but geeze TTK is gonna get used up in like a week and then what? Players won't have anything else incentivizing them to keep playing unless they're just grinding for weapons and materials. Which is more of a job if you ask me.

                                    Iam more into PVP so the PVE activities do not bother me THAT much except the raid which I hope will deliver. I dont know how much of you guys will see this or dislike/like it, but whatever. - Etheric light... A currency that was only obtainable mostly trough tedious PoE grinding or Trials of Osiris. Not particulary hard to grind, but Iam not a fan of them becoming completely useless in TTK. Why there isnt a trade aka "cash in" trough the speaker is quite a surprise... - Year one exotics... While I understand the logic behind leaving our year one legendary gear behind is fine, but why the exotic gear? Wasnt that suposed to be the "holy grail" and main purpose of this game and its loot? We are not sheep... If someone wants to hammer his Ghorn into bosses and raids for 10 years then fukin be my guest and do it. - Raid exotics... Vex and ESPECIALLY the Necrochasm... I mean you will buff it on sep 8 only to make it obsolete a week later? What? But why??? What logic is behind that? - What about the reworked strikes? FFS is it so hard to share some info on that? The bosses will have the new mechanics? Will they also drop the boss specific weapons/armor? I hope Iam wrong, but Iam calling it now that the only thing that will be changed is a bunch of random Taken spawned into them .... LOL... Oh god I hope Iam wrong... - The dumb and stupid Sword teasing... - Crucible drops and loot... Will there be any change? Again only weapons? Well atleast they will give more usefull things after dismatling... Or anything else is gonna drop? - What will happen with Trials? - Whats up with Fate of all Fools? Still the deciding factor of the whole expansion is the raid and Court of Oryx...
