Deej, please make an official statement

OK, Deej. Matchmaking toggle ON/OFF in settings for all endgame activities. Thousands, maybe millions have been begging for this. Now especially with PoE and ToO. We deserve a solid answer from Bungie. Why is this being ignored and what valid reason do you have for not having this? Sure, we understand all the reasons why you/Bungie think forming your own fire team is the best way to experience the game. The points are valid, but not one size fits all. We also have many valid reasons why the act of manually matchmaking with LFG randoms using forums and external sources is not a good solution, and is no different or better than in-game matchmaking. My "friends" list has been forced to grow to the hundreds with all randoms, maybe two or three have become actual friends, and still I can't get a fire team at the drop of a hat when I want it to play many parts of the game. I'm adding insane amounts of friends to my list daily and it doesn't make fire team finding any easier. It's ridiculous. It's so inefficient and archaic. Why are you dictating to us how you think we need to play the game? If we don't mind the matchmaking with potential randoms that suck or go AFK, then what is the issue? I'd much rather put up with the occasional random bad team than all the hassles I have to face in trying to manually create a fire team with LFG random "friends" (that may or may not end up being the same bad team!) And if it's optional in game settings, then everybody wins. Turn it on or off, depending on your preference for finding a fireteam. So easy. So intelligent. Deej, what's the answer?

    • I have yet to see a valid reason whyOPTIONAL matchmaking would be a problem. If people wanted to still solo nightfalls they could. I honestly just don't understand it. I was a keen mass effect 3 player, and when you opened a lobby/room you had the option of friends only, public and private. That way if you wanted to only play with people on your friends list only they could join you. If you wanted to run solo for the challenge you could. If you wanted a PUG game it was there. How hard would it be to implement? Maybe they're worried they didn't build the infrastructure into the games code to allow for it and adding it now would break the game, or maybe they don't have the necessary skills to do so (pure speculation)

      • BUMP!!!!!! Bungie is being really really stupid on this. They have match making in this app - why not in game? Being randomly matched via the game or from an LFG is no different except one makes you keave the game and waste a ton of time. BTW - there arent 5 people on my friends list still playing destiny at a given time - let alone that want to raid.

      • The answer is simple... the majority of players suddenly being able to join matchmade end-game content, and finish it with little to no trouble, will force them to admit that the content really isn't as difficult as they claim it to be. I'm willing to bet the fact that many people haven't finished raids and PoE is simply because of these arbitrarily imposed limitations.

        • At current, our philosophy about endgame content is that part of the challenge includes forming up a team. This is a strong community filled with players who are looking for teammates. Why not seek each other out here and band together?

            • You mean dads of destiny isn't an actual clan that plays together? What's the point of being A part of them if they don't play together?

It would cause more problems than it would solve.

              • I'm down with that statement, Everyone deserves to play. But what needs to be apart of that statement is DeeJ saying we won't be changing the difficulty of any end game activities.

              • I just spent an hour looking for a couple people to do the 34 arena and no luck. Some of my friends either done it today or doing other things. It gets old real fast sending message after message just to get no reply from radoms or a message I've just done it maybe later.

              • I'll cut to the chase we need match making in every thing. So in my opinion this is the difference between having a in game matchmaking and what we use today outside of the game for group matching. Today's way of endgame matchmaking. 1-Pick up phone 2-find lfg app that's wasting space on my phone 3- find a group that doesn't require the freaking gjallarhorn because I dont have one 4- once you find the group go into the message friend option on the console 5- try to spell the extremely long and ridiculous name of the person in charge of the group. 6- wait for response 7-get no response 8- repeat steps 1 through 6 9- finally get response 10- get Into group 11- halfway through RANDOM group people go afk or group fails. 12- repeat steps 1 through 11 The way it should be...... 1- start game 2- push matchmaking button 3-play game 4-have fun

                • I just joined the bandwagon, well I officially see your side of the argument. I too have added insane amounts of people to my "friends" list only to be later deleted or to have my invitations overlooked. Matchmaking would eliminate this but admittedly bring in more crying as well. I wouldn't mind reading the headache of a bad team as long as bungie covers down. Put a disclaimer or pretend that the matchmaking is a difficult mode that when chosen says something like, "Match made teams are not required to use mics or have any experience, join matchmaking at your own risk. There are no fireteam leaders and there will be a penalty for abandoning a fireteam. Good luck gaurdian, blah blah blah."
