I think it's gone already. Gaming has become such a cash cow and now it's all about the visuals-instead of the gameplay. Back in the 90's you had the last of the great rivalries, Sega VS Nintendo, then Sony joined in. The three consoles had an epic battle for supremacy releasing great titles for all platforms. Unfortunately Sega had to call it quits, and The battle was fought to a draw between Sony and Nintendo. For me, gaming's greatest days were over once Microsoft joined the industry. Of course it's gunna be about money, it's a business, but back then, devs loved the games they made, and it showed. Now, every game feels the same. Fun for a week and a chore any time more. 15 years ago, I would have been able name multiple games that I loved to play regardless of how many times I had beaten it. I can't name one single game released since. It's sad really. But thankfully, I kept my classic consoles. So I can go back at any time and enjoy those old games whenever.
