Open House: PvE and PvP Weapon Balancing

Will weapons in PvP and PvE ever be modified separately from one another? I know many players get upset once any given patch goes live because the weapons fixes apply to both parts of the game. Thanks.

  • This basically answers your question and that answer is a resounding 'NO!'.

    • The question he's asking and the question in the link are different. They can adjust PvP and pve separately. They just won't since they're lazy.

      • I guess you are right in that his answer is to why it is the way it is now and not will they in the future. He did say adding a bunch of code in to try and make the weapons act differently in both Pve and PvP could cause a bunch of problems. Given Bungie's general risk avoidance attitude toward making software changes in the game, I'm pretty sure that they will not implement anything until Destiny 2 (and that is even if they want to make a change at all). I agree that Bungie backed the wrong horse when they made the choice to keep them the same. It should have been obvious even back then that trying to keep balance in two separate domains with different scales and goals would not have been possible. Unfortunatley lack of balance in PvP breaks the game, lack of balance in PvE makes it less fun and the general attitude seems to be that making it less fun is better then breaking one part of the game. Hopefully looking forward Bungie realizes that their mistake is really holding back the game and not continue under the delusion that it is somehow better the way it is now.
