For such a miniscule event like Crimson Days, why is there no matchmaking?

I get that going into solo into a doubles playlist could go horribly if you go against a pre-made fireteam, but since they're already putting in a Freelance Mode, why not implement that mechanic early into Crimson Days? It shouldn't be that hard to make a separate playlist for solo players. I work 12 hours a day and don't have time after work to go on LFG just to find someone for a DOUBLES playlist. I just want to jump in and play. Kind of a silly request to some, I'm sure. But I can't be the only one who thinks this right? Edit: Thanks for the replies guys. As few as there are its the most I've ever gotten lol. For those who say it's meant to go in with a person you already teamed up with because it's Valentine's day, I get it, but solo players should have fun too. That's like telling everyone IRL who is single to stay home this Sunday if they don't want to meet anyone. Edit 2: Lets keep it up guys. Deej or Cozmo really needs our feedback regarding solo play style. An actual solution is needed, espcially for something that supposed to be as fun as SRL or Festival of the Lost. I keep seeing posts about Crimson Doubles being sweaty as shit already, and I haven't even played it yet lol. Edit 3: Wow over 100 replies! Thanks to everyone that is contributing to the conversation, be it for or against the topic at hand. Edit 4: Just past 200! There's a lot of good points being made, one obviously is that I'm lazy as shit and should just use an LFG website and call it a day. I sure as shit could do that, but the point is this all boils down to is that I have to leave the game in order to play it. This has been an issue since day 1. Maybe direct matchmaking for Crimson Doubles isn't the way to go, but to simply not have any way of finding people to play with in game besides messaging randoms in the tower is ridiculous. To bring it all home to the title of this post, it's a small event, and while the bounties are tied to being in a fireteam, it could have been set up way differently. How? Idk look at all the other posts people have put. Take your pick. I don't want to (or as others would call it too lazy) use something I already have to use for raids just for a small ass event. Edit 5: 100 likes and 500 replies! I'm digging it!

  • In my opinion Crimson Days has/is a total waste of your gaming time,. In a loot based game playing new events like Crimson Days can be great FUN....Here's the catch PROVIDED the time investment yields rewards. When the rewards are lacking or underwhelming it takes away from the experience of playing the event. It makes the event feel like a total waste of time. Crimson Days is/was a waste of time. Sorry but after playing 13 games at 316-317 light, finishing all bounties and cashing them all in together. I only received a 295 Brave Shell and an emote. Did not see any high light legendary items nor any ghosts drop as post match rewards during this time. You never get a second chance to make a good first impression. I'm done with Crimson Days.

  • Agree for the matchmaking. Don't really see a reason why this can't be matchmade. Maybe they wanted to avoid people complaining that their teammates suck (me). And now we can only blame ourselves for that. Lol.

  • "Bungie the tower looks really good for the event.. " <echoes> "Bungie are you listening?!?!" <crickets> "Hello Bungie? You said you wanted feedback, are you there??" <tumbleweeds> "Bungie? Just wanted to also say that we wished you had included matchmaking in Crimson Doubles, you know, since it is not end game, like Trials or Raid..Bungie?" <Crows cawing> "sigh"

    • - To read lore and make sense of storyline you have to visit a site - bungo.net - To do end game activities you have to visit a different site - destinylfg - To check your stats you have to visit yet another different website - destinytracker - Socialising hub called tower is completely useless I hope i am making some sense...

      • Bungie's idea: Lets make CD fireteam only to promote fireteams. Then when they commit suicide to get rewards at least they are not total strangers. Bungie Community: Non-matchmaking is just stupid. Why should I go to an LFG site or beg for a "random" player to join me just to commit suicide to get rewards. With MM, we can kill ourselves more often to have a better chance at getting that elusive 320 Turd Ghost. TL/DR: Forced fireteams are making rewards farming take longer.

      • I get it. Will you be my Valentine? I mean crimson doubles partner. It is a Valentine's day event and just the same isn't matchmaking. Ask around tower and someone will accept your invitation.

      • Does not make sense not to have matchmaking with this event. Why restrict it. Who really cares whether you are in a fireteam or not.

      • I agree. I feel sorry for completely new players who have no idea about lfg or the forums, you can't say they are lazy when they don't have a clue about what to do outside the game to complete it

Simple. The time your sitting in orbit looking in LFG or trying to find a friend to play with wich at max could be up to 20-30 min compared to 30sec matchmaking they are clocking that time as playing time. Its all artificial playing time so they can boast the numbers

      • I couldn't agree more. My interest in Crimson ended when I saw no matchmaking. It comes down to effort vs reward. The rewards on Crimson don't justify the effort of running around on LFG sites etc.

I do find it rather odd, if people really wanted to communicate with their partner they would either plug in their mic or go to LFG. So yeah it seems somewhat silly why there's no matchmaking.

Bungie claims this is a social game yet has zero matchmaking for any important feature within it. We're basically investing in a child's lemonade stand which has a sign that reads bring your own cup.

        • I totally agree, matchmaking would have been way better^^ I posted in lfg here, Destiny Wikia, PD forums, Reddit and LFG.net still nothing solid came up. Probably because I made it clear that Im new to pvp idk. Luckily I got invited by some guy in the tower lol! I feel bad for him though we lost almost every match, besides the ones where people were doing on purpose.

Lack of matchmaking is a major pain. Can we go on lfg or somewhere else and find someone? Sure, but if we're just finding randoms anyway, WHY NOT JUST DO MATCHMAKING? How is lfg or something else any less random? Finding one is a pain too. You message someone, hear nothing back. Send out a few more, now get 3 invites at the same time. You accept one, only it turns out to be someone who thinks this is Trails serious and quits on you after the first match. Now the other 2 people have moved on... rinse, repeat. At least with nightfall, you look for 2 looking for one more. Now it is just constant refresh and spam of lfg. It is only 2 v 2. It doesn't need tons of teamwork. 6v6 iron banner on rift has matchmaking, and that requires a ton more coordination.

          • Just stand on the mound of roses at the front of the tower and dance! Go on, be a tart the guardians will flock to you presenting yourself on the podium of st valentine! Mind you only room for one at a time, so if you could all please line up in a suitable manner and await your invite!
