Bungie claims this is a social game yet has zero matchmaking for any important feature within it. We're basically investing in a child's lemonade stand which has a sign that reads bring your own cup.

Preaching to the Choir, anything beyond strikes is "make your own -blam!-ing team", well you know what Bungie, I built a huge friends list, but by the time I had a huge list I was so bored of the game, even last night, first time I played since October, zero changes, got bored after a few heroic strikes. Got damn I can't wait for The Division and a company that gives a -blam!- about it's gamers.

I agree completely. Bungie has claimed Destiny is a social game before it launched but it lacks social features. I expected an actual social hub with optional matchmaking and/or an in-game lfg system. Somethings that players should expect since these features are found in other games. What do we have? Emotes are fun but mean little when it comes to communication and building teams. The only other thing is the ability to send invites but all that does is save players time typing names and a subject using consoles' messaging system. Let's face it the game isn't social. Players should NOT have to go outside of the game to find others and put together teams. Telling players like Shag6 and myself to make friends and use #Recruitment and lfg sites is nothing but condescending and blind fanboyism.

  • You do realize matchmaking is the complete opposite of being a social game. I've literally never heard a single person speak or attempt to be social in a match made activity in this game, matchmaking is literally for anti social people who are too lazy to find friends and talk to them and play with them more than once, you want to be social then join a clan or use the community on here and actually talk to people and befriend them rather than expecting the game to just do everything for you.

  • Yes because when it's 3am and I'm in bed I wanna be talking on mic and calling out enemies and strategies while my gf is trying to sleep

  • So when I play a online multiplayer game and have to go out and make friends outside of the -blam!-ing game, it's my fault? I've never seen a multiplayer game so blatantly ignoring the whole multiplayer aspect as Destiny has done. End game content should be something you look forward to, not a -blam!-ing chore.

  • I think you're not comprehending what being "social" actually is. Auto-matching with random people you never talk to attempt teamwork with is not being social. If you're going to be social, you have to actually communicate with those other people, not just occupy the same side of a roster...

I've met tons of great friends this way, you play with some people, you like em, you add em. You don't need to be in direct physical contact with someone to know their play style, strengths/weaknesses.

  • I think you're not comprehending what good matchmaking can and should do. You jump into a raid, and then you enter into a party. Done. There's no reason... none... that justifies why we have to go completely out of game to get a group of people together.

What you're describing is not being social, which is what the argument is about. You're just describing matching with other players with nothing to do with socializing. Also, you don't have to go out of game. You can sit in the tower or reef (or really ANYWHERE you see other players) if you want and send invites. Sure they could improve clan or LFG support, but that doesn't mean you have no options whatsoever.

  • That literally describes something I would never do. How hard is it for Bungie to add an inside chat window for LFG, take a couple pages of code, a couple MB of space in update, and then bam, you got in-game LFG. Bottom line: they are too -blam!-ing lazy.

  •
You can sit in the tower or reef (or really ANYWHERE you see other players) if you want and send invites.
Really. That's how you want to defend this game. Message spamming as an alternative for group making. Nice. What about going through a third party is any more social than getting paired with people efficiently...? Either way it ends in social interaction. Bungie has simply decided they would be lazy and not allow us the ease of social access.

That IS group making. Do you call sitting in an area of any PC MMO and typing "LFG" in the text chat to everyone in the general vicinity and then creating a party with whoever sends you a message back any different? Also that's not a third-party, that's 1-1 interacting and the game's communication option is the second party.

  • In what way did I contradict myself? You're still saying you want to be auto-grouped with other people, which doesn't involve socializing. I'm saying being social is creating a group by actively socializing through communication, and the point being that contrary to your last comment, there are ways to socially engage other people WITHIN the game.

  • No one is missing the point, your point is just shit. Like the other guy said, before release they literally said raids won't have matchmaking, they said they want you to make friends in the game, to form consistent groups that you'll go on mic and interact with, that is the social aspect of the game and you're making the choice to refuse to take part in it. Seems to me like you're the one missing the point, and have been missing it for over a year now. Keep complaining though, idgaf, I'll be busy playing with the friends I've made throughout the course of the game.

  • You still have friends that play Destiny? No, I'm being serious. I started in Beta and around HoW I probably had 40-50 friends on at any given time pretty consistently. Since TTK dropped I'm down to, and I'm not exaggerating, 2. Everyone else, including me most days, has moved on to greener pastures.

  • But making connections for a non competitive 2v2 mode is a joke. Its like a watered version of IB that they didnt wanna waste their time with matchmaking and level requirements. Lets make it casual as -blam!- but require you to find people on your own. -blam!-ing lazy They should have kept it 6v6 and just did the duo mechanic on each team. So when your predetermined parter dies you fet the buff. So much better than -blam!-ing 2 man.
