PC Loyalists. Stop it.
I notice an annoying amount of PC loyalists now who are trashing console, and trying to prove how PC is "Master Race" well, tell me, a PC is too much money for a gamer who isn't just playing Minecraft, you have to update it every year, get new hardware every 2 years, and spend just as much as a console is to get the PC itself. If you buy console, you get high power gaming for same price AND console exclusives like Destiny, Halo, Killzone, things like that. So PC loyalists, ponder on this.

False in a lot of ways. Computers do not need updated every two years. A computer that runs things on max right now will do so for most games for a good four or five years. Consoles are NOT high powered gaming machines. They're at best middle line. You might miss console exclusives, but consoles have half as many exclusives as PC. For every Sunset Overdrive, Halo and Last of Us (not even mentioning Destiny because its not worth mentioning); they get games like FTL, Star Craft, Civilization, Arma, This War of Mine, etc.

And I never made this post for hate, I just don't like there being a fraction of PC players trashing console or trying to prove its superiority. I know PC is superior, but I don't prefer it

1 ReplyI'm definitely a console gamer, I hate hunching over a PC monitor with keyboard and mouse in hand. But PC gaming is definitely not too much money. It's way, way cheaper. Most people need a PC anyway for work or leisure, so spending a little extra to ensure your next PC can run games is nothing compared to all the costs of console gaming. Steam is free, has more games, and they're all cheaper too. Much, much cheaper. Especially if you wait for humble bundles. Btw, "glorious PC master race" was/is a joke term. Nobody actually takes it seriously. If they do, take pity on them rather than get angry.

In reality, the upgrades are only needed for what performance you desire. These consoles have no way of upgrading, besides a hard drive upgrade/external hard drive. A decent gaming rig can cost as low as $350 and still outperform the latest consoles. I run an older rig that I've had for years and have no problem outputting 1080p, high-ultra settings, with a rock solid 60 FPS. My computer cost me about $500 when I first built it 6 years ago and has only received a few small upgrades. Total money in it in the last 6 years is roughly about $900. If you consider 6 years of online service fees, the price of the previous generation console at that time, and the price of the newer consoles... PC is cheaper. Don't fool yourself into thinking these newer gen consoles are high performance... They have outdated 2009 Jaguar processors and other outdated hardware. Don't spread these lies about PC being more expensive... PC gaming only gets as expensive as you let it. 1080p 60 FPS gaming can be had for cheap and last for years. Edit: What is this crap about having to hunch over a monitor? It's called an HDMI cable... I play it on my 40 inch TV comfortably...

2 RepliesPlatform loyalists, in general, are idiots. It's a brand. That said, good PCs can be built anywhere from $550+, and then games are dirt cheap, because extremely frequent and good sales. It's not fanboyism talking: PCs are better long term investments. Consoles also have their own perks, hence why I own several.

I play PC, but I don't buy parts to upgrade or worry about all the other complicated stuff. It's been future proofed to be like a PS4 and higher anyway. Doesn't mean I like to brag about it, because not only are most of my favorite games console exclusives, but PC games rarely use discs. I prefer physical copies.

I make no apology for playing on a platform that is objectively superior. Console play on settings that are medium at best, more often than not on low, for a cost since you have to pay to use your own internet connection with XBL or PSN, with whatever input method you're forced to use. Also, upgrades are not nearly as often as you are claiming; I built my PC two years ago and haven't had to upgrade a single part. Besides, I'm still maxing everything at 60 fps. Even if my card became too weak, I could just lower a few settings and still look better than console games. Basically, PCs are a little more expensive than consoles (not that much more after accounting for your barrier to entry XBL/PSN cost), but offer a premium experience. PCs are actually, factually, objectively superior to consoles.

The fact that you call any of the consoles high powered indicates that you're an idiot. My dads laptop is better than the new consoles. And that machine was my old laptop from 4 years ago! Why are you still worshiping the potatoes as if they're worthy of being called a good console?

18 RepliesAs of 2013 that is the exclusives released/announced on each platform. PC is better because you can play with any controller you want. It can be WASD (mouse and keyboard), xbox 360 controller , xbox one controller, ps4 controller, ps3 controller, you name it, it works. You also have steam. which is an excellent curator for game distribution because it offers community forums, social hubs, and game reviews. On top of that the steam sales are a great way to save money. For example I have about $400 worth of games which I've payed $260 for. And those are all AAA titles as well. And we have steam game sharing :) I used to believe the hardware thing like you until I actually did my research. You are not wrong, My PC was $1700 USD, but it will last 1.5X longer than the PS4 (My PC runs alien Isolation on max settings -which is still higher than PS4 graphics- at 260FPS). If you're looking at it in a more practical sense you only need to spend $600 on a gaming PC once to get something that performs better than a PS4 for the next 3 years. After that 3 years you can sell your used GPU/CPU (whatever you're upgrading) and buy a new one withing that price range for $150 brand new, Or get a higher end spec used part for less which will last you longer. I honestly challenge someone to reply with something a console can do that a PC can't.

Upgrades are much more worth it than spending sixty a pop for games when that could go for upgrade ect into a computer. Only thing a console is good for any more is to watch porn or Watch TV. I will pit my starter DC 5800 small form factor against a PS 4 and Xbone any day of the week with a Duo Core 2. Upgrading it just takes some time and money. I guess console players are too lazy to look at newegg Walmart or Overstock to get good computer prices.
