Platform loyalists, in general, are idiots. It's a brand.
That said, good PCs can be built anywhere from $550+, and then games are dirt cheap, because extremely frequent and good sales. It's not fanboyism talking: PCs are better long term investments.
Consoles also have their own perks, hence why I own several.

I disagree I have had my first model xbox360 for 4 years and it runs every game I play fine, and the free gaming perks are great

In the 2 years that I've owned a gaming PC, I've gotten around 200 games for it. Due to frequent bundles and sales, all of them have only cost me around $500, and $150 or so of that money has gone towards various charities. Most of those games can be found on a console, but have never been less than $15-20 each at GameStop. Plus you don't have to pay $7 a month to play them on the internet. Consoles are still good for their own reasons, like their exclusives and communities, but are in no way cheaper than a PC, long-term, if you plan on buying more than a handful of games.
