Thorn: The New Primary Sniper
I know, I know, another Thorn post. This is for feedback though. Playing through the Iron Banner, sniped by a Thorn from across the map in the Twilight Gap along with quite a few other occasions. That doesn't seem quite right considering their accuracy was supposed to be lessened. Just saying. It's a hand cannon. That is all.
Edit: After reviewing various weapon posts on this forum, and gaining lovely bits of feedback, I've come to the conclusion that Thorn is like the Ring of Power in the Destiny realm. It's a bitch to get but once you've experienced that one addicting perk, it becomes your everlasting Precious. And if it's ever threatened, your inner Gollum emerges and a rage fest ensues. Is it really worth losing a finger guys?? Is it really worth it?!
Edit 2: Yes, I have Thorn. No I don't use it. My love goes to Hawkmoon. To save you the trouble of looking, no I don't avidly play in the crucible. I find it pointless and only will attend Iron Banner for the gear. I enjoy raiding far more than shooting random strangers in tiny little maps dominated by shotguns and the gun in the subject. I am merely pointing out my own personal experiences with Thorn. Put on your big boy pants and deal with my feedback to Bungie. I wouldn't lie and it's something that might should be addressed.

Just a thought since this is what I do I use a sniper then thorn instantly right after so the poison finishes them off that's probably how your dying across map. It's not all thorn it's very inaccurate far away only like 1 bullet out of 4 shots hit far away from sniper like range it's definitely worse after patch now before you could snipe not now hate to tell you have you used thorn after the range patch its not as op range as you think...

1 ReplyYes it's a hand cannon and the maps are very small so by saying all the way across the map really isn't that far. Let's think about it like this stand back 200 yards and get shot with a 44 mag...that's pretty far but it will still lay you out...with my ruger super red hawk I took a Texas white tail at 235 yards a few years back and it jumped once then ran about 20 yards and dropped...My reply to another I hate thorn post.

But oh no they can complain about the hawkmoon when it doesnt have as much accuraccy and takes 3 flippin headshots to kill while thorn is always 2. If im lucky its 2, if im lucky. Thorn is a always.

If you have Hawkmoon then you should be able to tell that the hand cannons are less accurate and have less range than they used to. The range doesn't matter much, cause it'll still kill in the same amount of bullets, but they aren't nearly as accurate from long range as they were, if you're getting sniped with it, they're getting lucky.

I say it's fine... And I just got it cuz it was taking up room in my bounties, don't plan on really using it... It's a good weapon, and a pain. But once your aware of who has it it can be mitigated.

Play combined arms and game modes on skyshock. I find the weapon balance is perfect on larger maps.

Just snipe them with a actual sniper rifle....or if you HAVE to take them on close-mid range...grenade+headshot=you win.

3 RepliesYea we all know the thorn is OP, especially in the hands of a skilled player it can be bothersome. You have to re adjust and use weapons like the last word that can out perform a thorn at closle-to mid range. Long story short you have to get up in their face to win battles against them. Also you have the most OP gun in the crucible Hawkmoon. So you dont get to cry, because reasons.

Range was nerfed from the aspect of damage, the farther the distance, the less damage it will do. It's not a destroy everyone regardless weapon, I've killed plenty of thorn users. I've used thorn myself and while its a good gun, it isn't an overpowered one.
