It may take a while before players understand how this new weapon and its synergy work together. Already today the sentiment is changing. We have seen this happen with other weapons.
Do you remember The Mountaintop? It was condemned as a trash weapon upon release. Then streamers discovered how to use it, and The Mountaintop became an OP and overused weapon.

Mountain top was really only good because of auto loading. If it came back people would still be using wave frames over it.

That is not the point. It was considered a terrible gun initially. Then it became one of the best guns after players discovered how to use it.

It was terrible on release. Bungie heavily buffed the weapon, and that made it so strong. This scout doesn't even have a learning curve like Mountaintop did. It's just underwhelming and outclassed.

I don't think a lot of players think this gun is bad at all. This gun is a champion stunning machine. It's covers all three champions due to slow and freeze and it plays with stasis extremely well. I just don't think the catalyst is game changing or helpful for it at all though.

A lot of them believe it is bad regardless of whether they are right or wrong. They posted their thoughts in the forum, and the content creators published videos expressing the same sentiment. I think the weapon is alright from what I have seen when it synergizes with a Stasis subclass and related armor. That being said, I hate Stasis as a subclass, and I never use it. I have almost no interest in this scout rifle. At this point I expect not to pursue it.
