Except it really isn't a true RNG system, in fact games have an incredibly hard (almost impossible) time making a true RNG system. If it was a true RNG system, you would not have nearly this many people all talking about getting duplicates 3-4 times in a row, especially not with how many possibilities there are. It has been pretty clear for a long time now that destiny's RNG system tends to get stuck, and it is an issue that has never been fixed. Heck it isn't even just loot drops that this happens with, it has happened multiple times with with nightfalls and bounties are available as well, to the point where Bungie has to manually change things every now and then. This issue isn't some new development and even Bungie knows about it, they just can't seem to fix it (likely something wrong in a core part of their engine).

Simple, they don't want to fix it and they keep rewarding casuals and punishing vets
-
Very true. Stop playing for like 2 weeks and suddenly you will get multiple exotics drops and everything, play consistently, and your rewards diminish very quickly.
-
So stupid, it should be the other way around
-
This fits standard, low cost, low resource PRNG algorithms.
-
Yes, but it doesn't fit for a true RNG system like so many misguided people seem to claim.

agreed. cause it's not true RNG, never has been. And given that true RNG is essentially a 'unicorn', people need to understand that getting close to true RNG is a difficult thing and requires hardware solutions that are expensive an often not invested in. I can't say with 100% certainty, but i'd be willing to bet that NO game company has a hardware based random number generator. Beside being expensive, they are resource intensive and relatively slow (from a CPU perspective). Pseudo RNG (PRNG) is all software based, and starts with a seed 'number' and finite range. If you know the algorithm, you can predict the series that will come out. So, it's NOT random. And then of course there is the programmed loot table part that multiplies into the whole equation.

Exactly, I was simply pointing out the fact that it is wrong to use the excuse "its RNG" because it really isn't. Which means that issues like getting so many duplicates so often could (and honestly should) be addressed. People for the most part are not expecting a truely random system because it is essentially impossible, they are just looking for some changes to be made so as to protect against the inherent issues of a not so random RNG system. Which I don't think is to much to ask for personally.

once again totally agreed. this problem has been plaguing me since my Diablo days. I play Destiny with some of the same crew as i played Diablo1, 2 and 3 with. I"m STILL the meme of the clan. I'm literally the "good luck charm" for them, if i play they are guaranteed to get rained on with good stuff. and i get shit. its comical at this point. I usually have to use fated engrams to get things, once i've acquired everything else i can by quest. and then even then i get duplicates from fated engrams before getting things i should have drop. i FINALLY got lord of wolves as a fated engram drop after getting another vigilance wing and vesper of radius first, both of which i've dismantled a dozen or so times before that. It's too ingrained in everything, which is why to ad insult to injury, they layer the RNG, so you then have more chances to get screwed over, if you have been dealt an 'unlucky hand'. so, i'll jump on the 'address this issue' train with a first class ticket, please.

I get you man, know one guy that had to do 101 or 102 ascendant challenges to finally get the ghost shell. Know another guy that is on about 70 riven clears and still doesn't have thousand voices. And as for me, one of the weeks I did crown on my titan I got either 3 or 4 of the auto rifle, and still don't have the helmet. Chances in this game just simply get to absurd levels at times, especially when it comes to duplicates.
