I just watched a Let's Play that finished today.
I don't see what the fuss is all about, giving the game top scores.
Fun, yes. Good game? Yes. Legendary? Eh... I don't think so. The story was good, but there was a lot of repetition. Joel was not a likable character, which made playing as him difficult. The ending fit, I think. I thought it would be either that or 'she dies to save mankind' from the beginning. It was a good story, but very predictable (except for the one suicide and the Joel-issue near the end of the game... those I didn't see coming). The story did not by any means give me the same chills as, say, The Walking Dead did. It seemed like character development was halted until the end of the game, just about. Then it all came at once.
On a scale of 1-10, using an ACTUAL 1-10 scale where 5 is average instead of 9 being average like online reviewers do today, I would give it a.. 7. Definitely an above average game. By no means perfect. Great universe, great BEGINNING to the game... everything, there. But it is by no means perfect. That said, I haven't even seen multiplayer.

I would still see it as a 10, it was an excellent game and excellent story with a fitting ending and reasonable. Joel is an easy character to play as considering you've gone through your head how the world is. Naughty Dog raised the bar again with this title.

The beginning was my favorite opening in gaming, the rest didn't fully live up to it but was still good.
