The ending was very anticlimactic for me. I saw it coming and was hoping they would do something better.

9 AntwortenI just watched a Let's Play that finished today. I don't see what the fuss is all about, giving the game top scores. Fun, yes. Good game? Yes. Legendary? Eh... I don't think so. The story was good, but there was a lot of repetition. Joel was not a likable character, which made playing as him difficult. The ending fit, I think. I thought it would be either that or 'she dies to save mankind' from the beginning. It was a good story, but very predictable (except for the one suicide and the Joel-issue near the end of the game... those I didn't see coming). The story did not by any means give me the same chills as, say, The Walking Dead did. It seemed like character development was halted until the end of the game, just about. Then it all came at once. On a scale of 1-10, using an ACTUAL 1-10 scale where 5 is average instead of 9 being average like online reviewers do today, I would give it a.. 7. Definitely an above average game. By no means perfect. Great universe, great BEGINNING to the game... everything, there. But it is by no means perfect. That said, I haven't even seen multiplayer.

I had very mixed emotions about the end...

the games amazing, youd have to be seriously nittpicky to find a flaw in the game. Youd have to be retarded to call it a bad game. I liked the ending because
they didnt do the cliche zombie genre ending where the main character sacrifices himself to save the escort. It sets it up for a good sequel with these characters that we still dont know much about. What did Joel do in the twenty years that went past? Why were Ellies parents so important and why is she so secretive about her childhood?

i was glad he killed Marlene and saved ellie
I loved the ending. Joel did the right thing, there was no way sacrificing Ellie would've done anything for humanity. Let's say the inexperienced Firefly doctors even managed to produced a vaccine, what then? A rebel faction is going to distribute an extremely limited supply to their own. The rest of humanity is already set in its new way. Hunters constantly raid and murder people, Fireflies wage war against the remnants of a fallen government, those who live in encampments are shady, dishonest, and barely make it by. All while nature on its own thrives, the fungal infection is just another stage of natural evolution, humanity as it was is gone, irrecoverable. Joel and Ellie and the rest of Tommy's group represent what humanity once was, the last of us.

I have mixed feelings on the ending, to say the least

It was very fitting and it just ending just fit perfectly. If it was very climatic like having Joel or Ellie dying at the end it would've felt like a copout. Joel needs Ellie cause if she was to go he would have been broken again after 20 years of being broken by the loss of Sarah and the world. The ending showed Ellie's acceptance of Joel's actions and his lie.

Bearbeitet von AngryBrute: 6/29/2013 12:02:43 AM
The ending made perfect sense for me. While I was playing, I noticed many subtle references to the games beginning as Sarah. While I was in her room, I saw a poster for Dawn of The Wolf and while exploring some town--I saw another and instantly thought of her and that poster. Even when Ellie referenced his watch was broken; I thought of that joke that he played. Joel's past with Sarahs death made him a hard, and bitter man. He obviously feels much regret for what happened, possibly survivors regret as well. So, now that another young girl comes into his life, he may be afraid to let another person in and grow to care for. For fear that he may loose them... Although that ends up being the case. He grows to love and care for Ellie, especially with Dave comes into play. Now, at the end when he finds out that the Fireflies are going to take out her brain--I believe that he feels like another girl that he loves is going to die. However, this time there is something that he can do! He can actually stop them this time, because, I do not believe that he could live another day if he looses another child.
1 AntwortenBearbeitet von CostlyAxis: 6/29/2013 12:14:13 AMI thought the ending was justified from the character build up during the course of the story. If it had been different, I would have been surprised and disappointed in Joel. Here are some more opinions I had about the game.
