The main issue I find with Bungie, is the constant change in ideas, vision, and overall the different direction that certain leaders or creative minds may have, and instead of attempting to synergize and work with the current systems, they instead attempt to make the old thing obsolete and give a shiny spotlight onto it instead. I dunno if it is a leadership issue (which let us be honest, it mostly was for awhile there), or if simply Bungie has some issues with in house communication. From a lot of what has been kind of shown behind the scenes of Bungie, it really makes me feel that they have a sort of situation where one head wants one thing, but doesn't like the old thing, or is told that they must make a better system to replace the old thing, and is kind of forced into making a bad decision, or else someone else will do it and they lose their job. Really the people who made Destiny 1 are not the same people in the current state of Destiny 2, and it does show. Now I personally think the teams we have currently for D2 are just as amazing as those who cooked up the Taken King and Forsaken, but they have a different style or vision, compared to a lot of the older members of Bungie. Narratively Destiny has not changed, and being a huge fan of Destiny's narrative, it has been my main drive on keeping up with the game and falling madly in love with the universe. Style wise, the game has changed quite a bit from being a lot more dark and gritty, to being a bit more comic style, but in a more sort of anime kind of way, that way they can kind of swap between various themes easily, and keep a sort of more global appeal towards the game. Granted many people don't like the style Destiny has adapted into, and I honestly find that valid, I personally don't mind either or, and will enjoy it regardless. Bungie is 100% aware that EoF wasn't a massive hit and even a few of their own team members have come out and talked a bit about such mistakes or failures. But change takes time and that is something I think people forget often, that when you voice yourself, it isn't an instant or near-instant change. It takes quite a bit for something to be improved upon, and you can find a million reasons or excuses as to why Bungie is at fault for that. I think it is ok to step away from Destiny if you feel like it isn't as fun as it use to be or not as appealing as it once was, but that is something everyone must understand, and at the very least, respect the vision that it is going in, even if a decision made has shifted the game into a direction many were not expecting. I personally don't think EoF was terrible nor was it bad, but that it was another Beyond Light situation with how things were completely different after things were sunsetted and vaulted. Given time, and if Bungie does go down the route of finally making the Light and Dark saga into it's own game or place for people to fully play through, and leaving the Fate saga as Destiny 2, and whatever comes next into Destiny 3. I think Bungie has a lot of protentional and has honestly done a very good job, regardless of their failures and mistakes. I think a lot of the toxic and bad part of the community is finally being severed from the game, and we can finally go back to being a happy and friendly community, seeking to make the game better, and enjoying the content that Bungie gives us. This is their game, their story, their vision. If you don't want to enjoy that, then don't. Hopefully my own rambling isn't minded either, just wanted to put it out there. :P

Gladly world of warcraft had the same game director since years and it didn't change too much. But regarding Warcrafts writing, it's literally that. The (new) writers even openly admit they are proud of retconning/devaluing old lore on their Social media profiles. Example. One of their "lore masters" wrote on twitter even that (and I quote) "We give the Writers feedback about what contradicts the lore and what doesn't. But in the end, it's their decision of what story they want to tell". In other words: "I decide what's cool, even when it goes against everything established already".
