Even if they wanted to try this again (presuming that they intentionally did it in the first place) they wouldn't. Wanna know why?
Because they would be caught immediattely. The community has built tools to track these things now. We have hard data. We can see whats going on under the hood. If they ever did it intentionally, and ever tried to again, we would know the moment it happened.
There is no getting away with it, and they aren't that stupid.

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, Bro you obviously haven’t been playing this game more than ten years like I have. Bungie tries to get away with as much egregious crap as they possibly can. They may not be stupid, but they definitely are sneaky and untrustworthy and will try literally any and everything to screw over the player base. They may not implement it exactly as it was, but I bet as soon as it was discovered, they began looking for new ways to do it so that it’s not immediately obvious. I have absolutely ZERO faith in this company. NONE! You can continue to be blind if you want, but Bungie has burned us way too many times for me to ever believe them again. They used to be incredible artists with a complete love for the product they put out. Now all that is left is corporate greed that wants us on a hamster wheel grinding for their profit margins.

Why are you even here then? Its not healthy to be interacting with a developer you have that much scorn for. Nor is it healthy to maintain a position within the community around something those devs made. How would they even go about doing that? How would it be possible from them to do something like this again without making it obvious? What, would they just randomly decide that some accounts should get better luck so that the ones that get screwed over don't show in the statistics? If they so that then the "goal" of trying to inflate play time is not met. It's pointless. Beyond that, I've been here a while. Started with the taken king. I've seen bungie make mistakes, I have seen them try to screw us over. It's no excuse to go completely unhinged like this.
