What’s are y’all thoughts on SBMM?
I personally hate it due to the fact that I just want to go into Quickplay to test different weapons, and **HAVE FUN** but I end up playing against the most insane sweats ever.
-
There has been no SBMM since the start of the season per Bungie’s post last week.
-
Your reason for hating sbmm is based on fallacy. Using subpar weapons is easier with sbmm, not harder. It only takes a few matches of bad weapons to drop you a bracket. The only reason switching to unproven weapons is tough AT FIRST is because you were JUST using better weapons in your last few matches and that put you in a higher bracket. It's honestly sad that so many of you children can't grasp matchmaking types.

Bungie has been scaling back on SBMM for a while now so I'm not sure why it keeps getting brought up. Ultimately nobody likes getting dunked on in a game, SBMM helps to limit those experiences.
-
Worst games for me with most unbalanced lobbies are CBMM. I only play SBMM unless I am grinding for a weapon
-
Cbmm to players who aren't in the top 10% is always sweaty its why bungie added sbmm but then complaints from the 10% came in and they loosened it which resulted in people fighting the top 10% again and they kept loosening it till it wasn't sbmm anymore. When cbmm was in play I had to use the top meta weapons to even play the game when sbmm was introduced I could use meme weapons but now with the current matchmaking its difficult to use none meta weapons
-
There is no sbmm. It was turned off beginning of this season. It’s “outlier protection” matchmaking now. The match skill bands are at least twice as big now then there were in loose sbmm. You are basically playing cbmm. Enjoy.
-
The player population is so low sbmm isn't even a thing right now and sbmm isn't strict at all, it's very loose and only gets looser the longer match making takes

-
So, go into Quickplay to test out new weapons and have fun; if that's your primary concern, don't stress over what the other players are doing.
-
SBMM doesn’t force you nor any player to use certain weapons. Use whatever you want. Whatever kind of MM and lobby-balancing they do, you can still use any load-out you want to. This is a game and you are never forced to do anything.
-
Prefer it over CBMM. Contrary to most peoples false narrative, I do better and get better with proper SBMM and lobby balance.
-
Lopsided lobbies push out players simple as that having the usual two farmers and the remaining players all there for their enjoyment isn’t sustainable but hey lets just let it play out
-
SBMM makes the game more competitive and, therefore, more enjoyable. The downside is that SBMM matches based on your AVERAGE skill, so if you're having an "off" day or using a loadout you perform worse with, then your "skill" isn't correct and you're being matched incorrectly. Another downside is that it's harder to play with friends of various skill levels.

Bearbeitet von Synge_X: 2/28/2024 11:48:32 PMAll of the major AAA titles that have adopted SBMM are all seeing record low player counts. Most of their data is skewed and out of date when they talk about retention, especially when they talk about “retention” during literal record low “retention” overall. SBMM hollows out the regular player, the 2 hours a night player, the player who can hold their own, and a job. When they leave, and they do, usually after significant punishment, the low skilled players get drafted into the higher tier lobbies and burn out fast… Plummeting the player base even further. Why then add a system like this? This question is often used as evidence to prove SBMM is positive, despite games like call of duty, a game that only a few years ago was pulling millions of players is now in the tank. It’s because this system gives preferential treatment to the highest tier and the lowest tier player. These happen to be the two types of players who spend the most money in the cash shop. The developer literally doesn’t care if the majority player base is eroded, as long as they are making money on micro transactions.

SBMM doesn’t really work with the low population that we currently have. As you get higher in “skill”, the more you play people running the cheesiest loadouts and the more you play against “passionate” players. It’s not the fact that matching people my skill level is annoying, it’s the fact that I have to play against people who try way too hard. I don’t even play quickplay or Iron banner anymore.

Personally, I don’t like sbmm. Even in this “loose” form it’s been in. I find it restricts player pools and in a game where you already have an extremely low number of players in select playlist, it drives the population down. The only thing worse is FTMM (fire team match making). This is killing the pvp community. Just a personal opinion, this game was designed to be played as a team which means you should be looking to team up. While solo play is always fun, it should not be focused on. Such as in Trials. Basically, we all remember the release of trials in which queen. Literally the best it has ever been. Best player population, best matchmaking, best percentage of flawless guardians ever…..and it was due to this: (Higher player count obviously) Card based matchmaking (matched within a win of either direction) and it was focused on connection. No duo que Had option to enter matchmaking either solo or trio (one pool of matchmaking) Had flawless pool. Nearly 40% of players went flawless during this time. Given the circumstances, I would much prefer to go back to these standards over the current. Honestly, past standards were much more fun.

Nothing can work properly without a population.

For me personally, I struggle to honestly care about pvp, I do try my best which of course there will be better players then me, but I don’t want to face them 100% of the time or having matches be one sided slams I’m okay with sbmm cause it shows me what my strengths are and what my limitations are, like being humbled by players slightly better then me, just tells me to keep trying, I will admit it has been a while since I went into pvp, but that’s just cause I’m burned out
-
Dude please, you top every lobby, posting 1.5 to 4.0 kdrs
-
SBMM nor CBMM will properly ever work in this games thanks to the forced 50/50 and piss poor team balancing claims that isn’t there when it’s clearly there 💀
-
It's -blam!-.
-
Low player pool and connections are why SBMM in casual game modes don’t work imo. I’m fine with playing against similar bracket of players, I enjoy it but when I get on I’d like to have a stable connection at the least. Also I’d like to see a base connection speed/ping brought up from 5mbps or whatever it is currently to improve the QoL for all players and region based along side with CBMM.
-
It narrows the possible decisions that you can make down to very few during the matches for a lot of people. And the only thing "natural" about it is that it clinches tighter and tighter as time goes on. Everyone just becomes drones going through the motions and we're all required to be not much better than the newest or worst players for some odd reason.
-
It is why our pvp playlists are dead plain and simple. Prior to each sbmm change we had excellent daily players, since season of the haunted when they stupidly swapped to sb its been on the down
-
I could care any less about sbmm, make me face the #1 destiny player for all I care but that connections better be perfect. Destiny is peer to peer and that opens up a ton of BS with lag and hit registration. There will be kills that you and others will question. Since this game will never have dedicated servers, there is no reason to have sbmm. Connection based has always been the better destiny experience for me. Unlike most players that hate facing sweats, I salivate it. I enjoy facing high skill players because I actually learn and get better myself, it’s that mentality that got me top 500 in overwatch and top 1% in cod a few years ago. Destiny is just not a competitive game, it’s too cheesy and casual so there is no reason to even have sbmm. Thats my take on this topic
