Hey everyone.
The game is overtuned in some aspects. It's a fact. The fact that you can flex you "skill" at any activity no matter the difficulty, doesn't mean everyone has to.
I'm a top 2% player, yeah, I know, not even that high. I can go and try to play any high activity with my mates, no problem. Am I skilled? Not at all. Do I know how to play the game? Hell yes. Do I need or want to stress out or make a loadout for a freaking patrol zone? Nope. Do I have a skill issue? Maybe. But that doesn't mean I need or want to be Esoterickk or whatever (let the "hE's nOt eVeN tHaT gOod" or "I'm BeTtEr" comments come). This is not a Dark Souls game (I know it's not at that level, just a reference).
Some people wants to feel powerful. Some want a challenge. And both of those should and must be respected. It's ok to have more challenging stuff, yes, but not everyone is on his 20's and not everyone plays to have a challenge after a long or hard day. People complaining about difficulty have the right to do so. If you're only there to say something like "skill issue", just don't say anything, having skill or lacking skill shouldn't be a requisite to play the game. Go and flex your 3454234 flawless cards on this weekend alone or your 457 GM completions this week even if they are not available, but respect everyones opinion and don't just say the most useless thing you can just because you think you're a better player.
Edit: When I'm talking about top 2% it's time played. Btw, didn't say that to make people check my stats (cringe) or to brag about it, and I said that it was not that high (please read before checking stats, again, cringe). Another clarification: I don't struggle in the game. I don't complain about difficulty. And I definitely know how to make builds (as I said before, I know how the game works). My point was: theres people who doesn't. There's people struggling, just check out the forums or check another posts or comments on social media lately. Some friends struggle. For me the only problem were the Threshers on Neomuna (which just have been adressed). What I'm talking about and trying to say, is that there's a lot of people struggling and complaining and they are in their right to do so, and when they do there's always someone in the comments saying the most useless stuff like "skill issue" as if Destiny required skill to be played (which doesn't, the game is mainly focused on buildcrafting). My point: If you don't have something useful to say, better keep it to yourself and don't comment, as those kind of comments don't help absolutely anyone in any way. This community is toxic AF sometimes.

Bearbeitet von Centaur-1: 3/24/2023 12:07:54 AMI do feel powerful, because there was a challenge that I was able to overcome with enough thought and preparation. Maybe it’s just me, but I get more of a power fantasy from killing things that should be stronger than me than I do from stepping on an ant I found on the street. That said, I’ll admit a few of the yellow bars can get a bit obnoxious.

I absolutely, positively, cannot stress this enough...
Skill issue
-
At this point in time i say “skill issue” as a joke because im just tired of the constant complaining all the time. Its like people here never take breaks. It gets old
-
Useless comments incoming...

Well stated. There seems to be a lack of understanding on the part of top players. Inevitably, turkeys will make git gud comments.
-
Your post will get a lot of players that will agree, but it won't stop the kids/teens making their childish comments. Especially the ones that will attempt to say "I'm better then you, and that means you need to play like me". Nope, no one needs to play the game anyway other than how they like to.

ahahahhaha dude is using a sunseted revoker and complain stuff is hard ! OMG dude your special

Well said

I for one love it. Now all the PvE players know what it’s been like for dedicated PvP players since SBMM was implemented. You all complained that PvP was to easy for those that actually dedicated time to learn and improve. Now the difficulty has come full circle to the PvE side of the game. You made your bed. Now sleep in it.

Its not a skill issue. It is a "fun" issue. Fun has been replaced by a chore now, and I got plenty of thise in IRL. I play games for enjoyment, and entertainment, and since the release of Lightfall, it has neither been an enjoyable, entertaining or fun experience. Every mission a slog, bad writing, poor story, can't really take time to explore, as your getting your -blam!- pushed in by red bar adds, as everything is + over your level, no matter how high your level is. I was relieved when the campaign was finished, and a hugh sense of dread that I had to do it again on my other characters. Its got to a point where I;m actively avoiding Netpune activities altogether. Lightfall has been a bad purchase in a long line of bad purchases from this vendor, and I will need to seriously evaluate whether I will be purchasing anything from this vendor in the future.

It isn’t a skill issue it’s a fun issue. I could clear GM if I wanted to - I don’t because I don’t enjoy it. I’ve been a raid leader for molten core 40 man in WoW when I was 15 years old. Pretty sure I can handle video games. Fact is I don’t enjoy that degree of crap anymore. I’m 34 years old. I play destiny specifically because it’s easy and allows people to be carried. I can do raids and carry people. The raids are easy. Everything is relatively easy and what isn’t easy can be over levelled to be made easier. That isn’t true anymore. Carrying people is a slog in this power capped content. Carrying yourself is a slog.

The problem is the power fantasy is gone. What's the point of playing through hard content if there's nowhere to flex your power like patrol zones or base level content? The game lost it's balance and they put the difficulty increase in the wrong place. But it's just an overall sign that Bungie really has no idea what to do with this game because everyone who did is gone.
-
I've played many games, cleared many raids. But Destiny 2 is the one endgame I've never bothered with because of the absurd amounts of RNG, increasingly different ways they screw over the dedicated players, and overall lack of fun.
-
What actually went wrong here was that harder content was asked for and Bungie heard that - and made CASUAL content harder while end game content were made easier. So neither the top % nor the casual playerbase are content with this (or at least shouldn't be).
-
You bring interesting points. I'm part of the people that like the difficulty increase but I feel the pain for the ones that find too hard or unfun. What I can see is that some people reallyy struggle (and they have the right to, I'm not judging in any way) and some simply want a casual line sometimes (or all the time). I wish Bungie could find a way to have both the increase and still a more casual level for those who want or need it. Cheers,
-
I wish I could like this twice
-
Bump. Besides, you have to feel kind of bad for people with self esteem so low that they have to tout their minor video game accomplishments as skill.
-
That would be ideal. Let both groups of people have what they want. I want funnn!

Bearbeitet von WtfPigeons: 3/24/2023 1:19:11 PMSome activities needed it some didn’t. It was a weird blanket change.
-
I think you forgot the premiss that less than 5% actually play the game.
-
sadly skill issue is a big problem of d2 community , and bungie to make the players happy will nerf the NORMAL DIFFICULTY the game have now
-
Well put.
-
If you unironically call something a skill issue you’re a useless waste of life.
-
I imagine most people who say “skill issue” or “git gud” are the same folks who bring up their own stats and the like whenever they justify their opinions/stances. Which is alright, but if you’re not rocking an emblem gifted straight from Bungie as acknowledgement or having them mention your name then I know beyond a matter of a fact that same people are not getting any maidens and that their opinions matter as much as the next schmuck. The only numbers Bungie genuinely care about are profit margins and retained player pop. If something needs to be adjusted to better suit the whole of Destiny players then it should, regardless if it is detrimental to a niche upper skill echelon of players.
That said, there should be reasonable changes that can suit both sides of the coin. RoN Contest Mode for example. The raid as is, sans the bugs and lack of quality spaghetti code, should be accessible and completable by the average player so long as they are geared enough for it. Contest Mode, however, should be challenging enough to give even vet players a run for their money. Though it’s a nice change of pace to see a new group holding the World’s 1st belt this time.
Bearbeitet von Rogue: 3/24/2023 4:45:55 PMDark souls understands difficulty. They don’t achieve it with spongey enemies. The comparison to dark souls is weak, Destiny’s difficulty is bloated and poorly balanced. Dark souls balance is meticulous and very carefully tuned. The two are really not comparable. When it comes to difficulty, it only matters as far as the gameplay experience you’re trying to curate. From Software want you to be thinking and making meaningful decisions constantly. They want every fight to feel frenetic and charged and like it has stakes. They want every swing to matter, and every hit you take to be a punishment for missing telegraphed attacks. It’s learnable. Bungie? They have no idea what they are doing, and their balance is forcing people behind cover to plink away with wet noodle primaries. They’ve tipped the scales beyond skill. You can’t out skill a room of one shots, you can only out range, use cover and sit patiently while the health bars go down.
