On the console version of destiny 2, you are able to adjust your output device for game chat audio, but this feature is not present on pc. Not only does this cause significant UI/UX issues with the pc audio settings (my game chat was broken for at least 2 years on pc due to changing the setting on Xbox years before), but it would benefit members of the pc community who may have more complex audio setups that allow them to more conveniently balance game audio and game chat. This issue seems more pressing with the upcoming addition of the in game lfg features, and could impact pc players ability to conveniently interact with game chat. Currently to balance game audio and game chat to match my audio mixer, I need to manually adjust both my mixer and the in game audio settings, which is a significant barrier to using game chat with console players, and pushes me towards more open and accessible cross platform options like Discord (where I can’t use the overlay because destiny 2 does not play well with in game overlays.) Overall, I think adding a second audio channel output for game chat to work with mixers, and providing access to the console chat output setting for troubleshooting, would alleviate all of these concerns. The issue being addressed could be a significant boost to the pc community interacting with game chat, opening more opportunities for cross platform engagement in the new lfg system.
