I never watched the early stuff. I only saw a few episodes around Doctors… 9 & 10, I think?
I mostly liked the show because the aliens they made were some really great psychological horror. Weeping Angels, the Silence, and all that fun jazz. I’m not a big fan of horror, but when it’s done right it is amazing, and the stuff I saw was done very right.
I’d be down for watching the rest of the stuff from that era, but I don’t think I could watch the whole series. I saw one of the earlier episodes once, and was simply not interested at all.

Yeah the difference between the show then and now is night and day really. I can see it being difficult to get into for someone who’s a big fan of the newer series, let alone someone who’s only seen a smattering at best. Suspension of disbelief can be pretty… [url=https://youtu.be/r-8np3aw-Cw]difficult[/url] at times… and even if you can look past that, the format is a lot slower-paced than anything these days so you’re likely to get bored if you don’t fall about laughing at an effect. There’s a very wide scale between the very good and the very bad though, so if you do feel you want to dip your toes in then my advice is to shop around.

I don’t think it’d be the effects or the pacing that’d turn me away. I think it’s just, as you said, it’s a really different show. I like the Doctor Who I’ve watched because it’s some top tier horror that doesn’t rely on violence or gore—it’s just scary to think about, even long after the episode’s ended. The few bits I’ve seen of classic Doctor Who aren’t scary at all, let alone top tier psychological horror. :p
