Everyone flaming like “don’t tell me how to spend my money” are the same clowns who are gonna be on the forums in 4-5 months like “why is there so much monetization in this game now it feels like a shitty mobile gacha game.” He’s not saying “you’re not allowed to buy whatever you want” but to just think that if this awful attempt at milking a couple extra bucks out of the community succeeds it will only get worse.

Seems like there's a lot of people that do that. The stuff is in that optional part of the game and from what I can tell it helps pay for the part of the game where I spend my time. So tbh, I really don't see it as a bad thing. More stuff comes out of it than I put into it. If you would spend more time playing the game than you do thinking about eververse you'd actually be getting the same experience you're trying to get with just the eververse part.

I understand theyre a business too, that doesnt mean im obligated to financially support scummy decisions. Like I said youre welcome to spend your money how you please, but surely you also recognize what the success of this monetization scheme means for the future.

Like this is literally shitty mobile gacha game levels of monetization. And considering some of us dropped $100 under the pretense that it would include everything in this year of destiny, its pretty messed up to say “well now you gotta drop it 10 more dollars if you really want the full experience” and we all already know that the best cosmetics are going to be locked behind the paywall. Sure its just cosmetics but that doesnt change how predatory the design is. Its just my opinion that no matter how good the event pass is, the community should boycott it just to tell bungie that we wont stand for this kind of overly predacious monetization scheme considering how heavily monetized the game already is.

When it’s not, I don’t buy extra stuff. They’re capitalizing on things and that’s ok and what any smart business would do. To me it’s an extremely cheap hobby when you break it down by the month so I have no issue with it. It’s ornaments and not anything that gives anyone a distinct advantage. I have purchased every single bit of content from day 1. I bought the 30th anniversary deluxe bundle this time. It breaks down to $8.33 a month for all content for this year. I’m enjoying it and have bought stuff in the shop as well. To me this is really no different.

Of course they want money I have not once denied this is entirely so they can make profit. The whole “theyre a business of course they want money” is literally an argument in support of boycotting this -blam!-, you do realize that right? The more we show them that its ok to have these overly intrusive monetization models, the more they’ll add them. And the worse it gets, im just saying putting our foot down now is the only way to stop them from getting away with absurd -blam!- in the future. Like i said do whatever you want, but when this game becomes pay to win I hope your self aware enough to not be on the forums -blam!- about it since it was your dollars that enabled them to get away with it.

To me, it’s not a big deal. It doesn’t involve playable content or weapons. When they brought sunsetting into D2 I was extremely outspoken about it. It had a negative impact on my experience. A group of us were non stop about it until they stopped. To me that was taking away things I’ve earned and I’m still pissed about it (other than pinnacles because they were broken) and if they ever bring it back I’ll be outspoken again and use my wallet to send the message. I think they’re moving the game in the right direction so they have my support. I’m not worried about what they might do. Keep in mind it’s ornaments and things like that. So I understand what you’re trying to do (been there and done that with sunsetting) but I choose my battles. I think they will always find a way to get fatter. It’s the way of any business.

I am, because $10 now is just the start of more ridiculous -blam!-. Look at how battle passes became mainstream, we used to never have battle passes and it was fine. Then one game became extremely successful with battle passes and it was just 1 game with a $10 battle pass, now literally any game you can name will probably have a $10 battle pass. No one is “using a crystal ball” its common sense, if this “oh its just 10 more dollars” works then theyll be more likely to add another “oh its just 10 more dollars” and then another and then another. Until you literally just have genshin impact levels of monetization in Destiny 2 on top of having to pay for dlcs. As you said yourself, theyre a business so any opportunity to squeeze a few extra bucks out of us will be taken by them.

Yeah youre right, spending $100 on the game and expecting the full product is asking a bit much, my fault man, I really cant wait till I have to also pay a monthly subscription like WoW or FFXIV. And then also still pay for DLC and Season Passes and event passes, and event passes for the event pass, and for the crucible battle pass, and the raid battle pass, and the strike battle pass, and the trials battle pass, and the patrol battle pass, and then pay $10 to expand my vault because its full again. You right man that really is the bright future of destiny 2 monetization.

I don’t remember seeing that in the fine print but you do you. I’ll buy the card if the goodies look cool and if not, I won’t. Just like I only buy ornaments from the shop if I like it. Skipped last 3 sets of armor in the shop because it’s meh. They put in a killer set and I’ll be spending the extra money every time. It’s a choice and has zero bearing on the game.

The example you provided in eververse is quite literally a perfect example of why I think its bad for the game. I dont know if you played D1 but we didn’t always have eververse in Destiny, and when they added it there was a huge amount of backlash. It forced bungie to make it reasonable and you can earn every single item in eververse by just putting in a couple of extra hours every week. This was still met with mixed opinions and now 90% of the cosmetics in the game are locked behind eververse with a near 0 chance of earning any of it with actual gameplay, and people are ok with it. Quite literally case in point, allowing it now will just make it worse for the future. Do whatever you want, spend your money how you please, but dont cry when the game becomes actually pay to win. Because you enabled it.

I don’t cry over cosmetics. I get upset when they water things down to the point of boring or in the case of sunsetting when they took away weapons I put countless hours into getting the perfect rolls on. I get your point and you have a right to be vocal about it. I don’t personally see it as hill worth dying on seeing they are a business and will always try to add profits to their model.
