  • How someone is level 484 on the season, with 3 1590 characters, and 2.5+ million career kills, could ever tell someone else to touch some grass is the biggest projection, cope, and irony combined that I have ever seen in my life. And you say it is more for less....how so? Who dictates how much a single item costs? Only bungo can do that. So of course they will make it 'seem' like you get more for less. If someone would make you the offer to -blam!- on your carpet once for 5$ or twice for 8$ would you let him do it cause it's a 'good deal'?

  • Because the prices for items for silver haven't changed in years and most games with cosmetics use around the same prices You are mad at bungie for doing something all other games does.... You guys are just ridiculous crying about cosmetics nobody her was buying anyways The things is ....I'm not against this premium card thing....but won't buy them But I see the advantage for those who bought those and instead getting barely 2 item they can now get them all for the same prices by just playing a bit This change wasn't made for peoples that was already not buying cosmetics

  • I mean, technically speaking, we CAN determine if it's a good deal. TL;DR at the bottom, because this DOES get long and it DOES have a lot of math. ONLY READ THE FULL POST IF YOU WANT TO CHECK MY WORK. Seriously, I'm fine with being told I'm wrong if you're willing to help me correct it, so by all means if you have a head for math, double check my work. I assume this is about that $10 package thing? Well, on average, an exotic emote costs 3,250 bright dust, or 1000 Silver. An exotic shell costs 2200 dust or 600 silver. An exotic sparrow costs 2,500 dust or 800-2,200 Silver depending on the sparrow so we'll average that to 1,500 Silver. An exotic ship costs 2000 dust or 800-2200 Silver, so again we'll average that to 1,500 Silver. A legendary shader costs 300 dust or approximately 96 Silver. A legendary emote costs 700 dust or 800 silver. A legendary projection costs 1500 dust or approximately 482 silver. A legendary transmat costs 450 dust, or approximately 144 Silver. For the upgraded event pass, we get: 1 exotic emote, 1 exotic shell, 1 legendary shader, all instantly, and we gain ACCESS to purchase more with tickets earned by simply playing the event (which is never difficult to do given half the community has it complete by day 2). The "more" mentioned being: 1 Legendary emote, 2 Legendary projections, 1 exotic ship, and 1 Legendary transmat. All for a total of: 1 exotic emote, 1 exotic shell, 1 legendary shader, 1 legendary emote, 2 legendary projections, 1 exotic ship, and 1 legendary transmat. We'll start with Silver, then bright dust. In silver, this $10 package grants you approximately 6,604 Silver's worth of cosmetics. If you were to spend enough money to BUY 6,604 Silver, you would want to purchase in the fewest packages possible, meaning the $50 Silver bundle (5000+1000 for 6000 Silver), followed by 2 $5 Silver bundles (2 500-silver bundles, since you can't buy in smaller increments than that). That is $60 for 7000 Silver, 396 of which is extra you didn't need for this. So for spending this $10, you save $50 due to what the equivalent Silver cost would be. Now how about Bright Dust? Altogether this package is worth 14,400 dust. There are a few ways to achieve this. The simplest is to simply max out the season pass (10,500 dust) and claim 1 Large Bundle of Bright Dust from a triumph (4,000 for a total of 14,500). Given you would be completing bounties and such, as well as gaining dust through other sources, we'll ignore this one as it assumes you somehow max out the pass without obtaining any dust from anywhere else. So... It would take 1,440 bounties to acquire 14,400 dust. 120 ritual vendor challenges to acquire 14,400 dust. 72 weekly event challenges to acquire 14,400 dust. 48-192 seasonal challenges (49 if all give the max of 300 dust, 192 if all give the minimum of 75 dust) to acquire 14,400 dust. 15-58 bright engrams (15 if all give the max of 1000 Dust, 58 if all give the minimum of 250 dust) to acquire 14,400 dust. 4 Triumphs (if all 4 give the 4,000 dust-worth Large Bundle of Bright Dust) to acquire 14,400 dust. 2 paid season passes (technically 1.371..but you'd have to PAY for 2, so...) to acquire 14,400 dust. 2 free season passes (1.92, technically but at that point you're going to complete it anyways unless you're just lazy) to acquire 14,400 dust. SO Say each bounty takes 2 activities to finish (being generous cause blues are unpredictable and you can't always count on getting it done in one go, plus some do require you to do things over the course of multiple activies and given it's usually 3, I'll average it to 2 because most are easy enough to do in 1), and each activity takes 15 minutes. 2 15-minute activities. We'll say you pick up 72 bounties a day (the initial 9 per vendor [4 dailies, 5 repeatables], then 3 more rounds of 5 repeatable bounties, from Zavala, Shaxx, and Drifter, for a total of 12 dailies per day and a total of 60 repeatables per day) and stop there. That's 600 dust from the repeatables, every single day. It's also 72,000 XP from the dailies (6000 per daily, 4 dailies, 3 vendors). Season ranks are 100k XP a pop, so it takes 9.9mil XP to max out a pass. At 72,000 a day JUST from bounties, you'll max it in 137.5 days. But...that's not all. You also get XP from repeatables. 4k to be exact, and at 60 repeatables, that's another 240k, for a total of 312k XP PER DAY. This means it would instead take you 31 days to max out the season pass. But there are more sources of XP, still. There are 19 weekly bounties to complete (if you ignore banner, which i will, because it's possible it's passed by the time someone starts this), and each one grants 12,000 XP. And that's 228k. If you complete all 19 in a span of 3 weeks (enough time for them to have their natural rotation) then your total XP across that 3 weeks would be 8,304,000 XP (you would have gotten 21 days worth of repeatables and dailies, with repeatables giving you 6,552,000 and dailies giving you 1,512,000 as well, making the pre-weekly total 8,064,000 and the post-weekly total being 8,304,000. Meaning to max the season pass, you would only need 1,596,000 more XP. But we STILL aren't done. During these 18 days, if you complete Seasonal Challenges (which give between 12.5k and 100k XP so we'll assume 12.5k to be on the low end for the most unfortunate situations) you get it even faster. Assume you complete 5 seasonal challenges during the 18 days, and they give you 12.5k each, that means you would also have another 62,500 for a total of 8,366,500, leaving only 1,533,500. Now given our previous numbers, if you keep that rate up, you would only need 5 more days of completing 72 bounties per day in order to max out the season pass, for a grand total of 23 days of playing the game in exchange for a max season pass. So you've maxed the pass for 10,500 dust. You've also completed 460 repeatable bounties for a total of 4,600 dust, leaving you with 15,100 dust. Technically you only needed 390 bounties worth of dust after the pass was maxed out, but you needed those last 70 TO max the pass out, so you get a little extra bang for your buck. What we learn from this is that you are paying $10 for the upgraded event pass in exchange for $60 worth of Silver, OR for 23 days of VERY HEAVY GRIND-FOCUSED GAMEPLAY. Btw, average conversion rate after checking bright dust cost vs silver cost on 10 items was 3.11, so ON AVERAGE, the Bright Dust cost will be 3.11 times higher than the Silver cost. This is where I got the Silver costs for items that did not have a Silver cost, such as the shaders. FUN FACT, through some of this testing I did find that Bungie's in-game economy team breaks their own rules at times (such as the bright dust vs silver cost of legendary emotes being only 100 apart), and bends it the rest of the time, so if you have issues with Eververse you're mathematically justified in it and should direct all complaints to the in-game marketing team. TL;DR IF you're talking about the upgraded event pass being the same price as a season pass for much less value, you're wrong, because for $10 you're getting the equivalent of $60 worth of Silver, or 23 days worth of the heaviest grind you've ever seen.

  • There's just,, so much wrong with the baseline assumptions here. The main problem here is that Bungie sets the price on digital goods that were cut from the main content in order TO BE SOLD. They created the issue in order to sell you a solution. Overall you are getting a fraction of what you got in D1 for the same price.

So stop complaining about that comparison, it hasn't been D1 and never was, and it never will be. Lamenting the old game means you should just go play the old game.

  • Also previous years of D2, but eververse went from a suspicious entity to " all that stuff you were expecting to find in strikes and raids and dungeons is Here now" year over year they've cut more content from the main purchases in order to raise the costs to players, and its entirely greed driven.

  • Have you considered it's because players keep increasing the demand for cosmetics? Bungie charges little to nothing for cosmetics Players adore them and constantly want more Bungie charges more because demand has gone up Players beg for more options Bungie creates more options, and realizes that with the weekly rotation model, the demand is even higher because if you miss a week you never know how long it'll be before the cosmetic comes back, so they charge more for it. Player demand increases exponentially because now there are so many shaders, emotes, ghosts, ships, etc, that finding your perfect forever look is 100% possible, but only if you manage to grab it when it's there. Demand is massive, so prices follow suit. If people just stopped caring about cosmetics as much as they do, price would go down. Besides...you can just use bright dust on whatever you want when it comes into the store, you don't have to pay a cent for 99% of the cosmetics in this game, so demand shouldn't be so high anyways.
