First time I learned was a random emoted at me. Then teabagged the orb spawner. Grabbed the orb. Looked at me, threw the orb at me. Grabbed another orb, threw it at shield enemies. I understood. Take ball. Pass ball. Throw ball at shields. I try to teach others but even with me shoving myself in their faces while holding the orb and jumping to get their attention just keep. Shooting. At. The. Immune. Shielded. Enemies.

Enemies.[/quote] Listen to what you're saying though. I've never played a game where game-mechanics are communicated to other players like a game of Charades. Using grunts, emotes or jumping, and shooting randomly to instruct other players on what they are to do LOL. And it's THEIR fault they didn't get what you meant??? Why wouldn't you just type in chat "hey throw the ball at the thing"? Oh right, Destiny chat sucks and consoles don't have keyboards.... Worst is a lot of the Campaigns where players would have learned these mechanics on their own have been "Vaulted" or whatever, but that's another discussion entirely. All these stories about running into random bad players being used to shoot down this suggestion are just...motivated by something else. Yes in every game there are bad players. But EVERY GAME has better matchmaking and social tools than Destiny, and they are doing just fine. Isn't that the relevant thing here?

When you actually pay attention and notice, hey! I'm not doing damage this way! Then you see an orb. This was put here for a reason. I can grab it. That person grabbed it and is throwing it. Okay, it took a bit of shield off. Why is this person holding the ball and trying to get my attention? They throw the ball at me and it changes a bit. Okay. Throw it at boss. Oh, the shield is all gone and I can do damage. Pay attention to the environment around you. It gives you clues. If you want a game that holds your hand through everything, this isn't it.

I'm not about derailing a suggestion because of these "one time a guy with an orb" stories, that's all I'm saying. I'm not asking for a game that holds your hand, nobody here is. We're asking for more matchmaking and in-game LFG, sink or swim. It's optional anyway, so what's the problem with it?

Because knowing Bungie, the 'optional' part will be broken for weeks. It'll either not matchmake or it won't let you turn it off. In game tooltips would be great, but most people don't/won't read them. (Also you can hook up an USB keyboard to type on your xbox.)

[/quote] Bungie isn't nearly as incompetent as people here make them seem. I've played a lot of games, trust me, Bungie is one of the good ones in this space imo. Sure things can always go wrong but I can't base my suggestions or requests on the worst-case scenario or some bug that might come up. (PC gamer but have Crossplay on to play with RL friend. My chat box is dead most of the time)
