In order for inertia to be broken you have to be going fast enough were air resistance is actually a real factor, when im walking and toss a ball up its gonna move foward with me not go straight up and land were i tossed it up at

  • That Depends. Based on the speed and size of an object. Driving in a car, a grown man of average height and weight will move backwards. Now, imagine the person performing a jet pack lift with marginal forward thrust. They’re likely to lose even more ground from the car due to the duration they’re in the air along with their acceleration decay due to wind resistance. By increasing the drag exposure time (double jumping), you further increase the differential between the car and the person jumping. Wind resistance is a major factor when dealing with moving objects even at low speed. Do I think Bungie really cares about this, not really. Do I think the entire physics engine needs to be tweaked to account for more range of momentum, definitely not. Though it would be funny to see everyone dying constantly trying to get used to it in the strike playlist…

At the end of the day this is a game not real life, air resistance is recalculated when it comes to other planets. Drag is only ever a issue when you are moving extremely fast, if drag was a issue while WALKING you would have massive issues lmao. Dunno why yall keep acting as if everything in this game moves at over 30 mph

  • But a lot of things do. A m in game appears like a foot in real life. We move much faster than you realize if we use Bungie’s in-game measures. I Titan can move about 10m in a second, that’s about 22-23 mph. You’re not going to lose tons of speed, but you’re going to lose ground, toss a water bottle straight up 5 ft in the air when you’re driving your car. If it you can catch it, I’d be very surprised. Drag’s a big deal, Bungie’s version isn’t perfect but it does a decent enough job to not have to spend crazy amounts of time redoing the physics of the game

  • Read my original post. Barricades and rifts should be anchored. That’s a much easier thing for Bungie to do and may actually fix the casting issue on uneven surfaces if they tie the center point to a solid object. I’m 100% for that, and that wouldn’t require Bungie to overhaul the physics engine and most likely break the game for a few weeks.
