The amount of Dares of Eternity runs is ridiculous
Sorry, not sorry. The grind to get the Forerunner catalyst is just beyond stupid. Dares is a cool activity....until you're forced to do it 100 times to get everything. I'm beyond bored of it because of how much Bungie thinks we should have to do it. This is the same logic why nobody wants to get that Ascendancy ornament from Gambit. It takes waaaaaay too long in an activity that very few people enjoy.
While Dares is not on the same level of awful as Gambit, you grow to hate an activity after having done it much more than you ever would have liked to. Why though? I'm not even getting 30th Anniversary gear from it most of the time. I seriously get the same world drops that I would get from doing literally anything else in the game for most of the rewards.
What's worse is I feel like I basically have to do the Dares runs now because I'm not entirely sure, but see it highly likely, that the reputation for Xur will reset on February 22nd, just like how everything else resets (Infamy, Valor, Glory, Vanguard, etc.).
TLDR; Bungie, please adjust the progression for Xur. More rep per completion of Dares. I don't know anyone who wants to do it this much. It's mind numbing and terrible.
[b][u]Edit[/u][/b]: for those of you saying we have an entire year, have you thought that through fully? I see it as highly likely the ranks reset each season just like Valor, Infamy, Vanguard, etc. All the runs I've done so far to work towards the catalyst could potentially be rendered irrelevant on February 22nd if I don't manage to get it done before then.

Made it from 9 to 14 today, after not playing since hitting 9 at launch. Burnt out again. The interrelated galactic donkey bounties should give a xur rank boost rather than xp.

It is quite a grind and does get boring after a while. I am at rank 10 now. I do an hour or two on the weekends. I put on music and get in there, helps with the boredom.

Xur and Starhorse bounties should give Xur rep ,that would ease the pain a little -
This is how Bungie works. They make an activity and think it’s amazing and when it’s released the players enjoy it for a week (maybe) and get bored of it. But then they want you to grind it 100 times. How many times has Bungie had to “fix” the grind of these because the player base refused to do them and it was going to ruing their story?

1 AntwortenWell it is labeled as Eternity so I guess they weren't kidding about the time needed. I will be proud though when my distant descendants finally finish the catalyst. Songs of triumph will be sung.

30 AntwortenI wish I had as much time as the people that agree that having to do 100 runs of a boring activity is totally fine.😂 I sometimes feel like that people forget that this is a game. Not a full time job.

Stick a film on, get the Star-favour, casually shoot endless rockets = profit. Although i did have to watch like 17 films over a few days and my brain did turn to mush in the process, but hey another catalyst I'll probly barely use.

Tbh yeah, the XP percentage you get is horrible compared to other activities, reset mine once haven't touched Dares since because i was already grinding Shadow Thrall to get the catalyst done Now IF Dares were to get a 2x or 3x XP week this would def make it worth it, maybe have Xur give a weapon from doing 5 runs for that week? Dares as it currently is needs a slight tweak, make star horse bounties give Dares rank XP

100 runs is not alot if spread over time.

Stop grinding it and just run a few per week until it’s done, not like the forerunner Caty is a must have right away kinda thing

Just run 2 or 3 a week. They didn't mean for it to be grinded right away. It will be here for a year.

Did about 15 then quit. Only thing I needed was the 2 random lightning rounds. I'll be buggered if I'm gonna play that laggy, stuttering mess anymore.

22 AntwortenThis is a loot game. Not a comp shooter. So grinding for loot and power is part of the game.

I've reset twice already and still enjoying the game mode. My recommendation is to not look at it as a grind, but play it for fun, you will completely burn yourself out if you try to grind it out in a single play session. I typically just play a few runs each day to get the daily Starhorse bounties done on multiple characters, it splits up the grind and makes the activity significantly more rewarding with the Paraversal Haul drops.
