Elements of the new weapon crafting system will encourage you to use many different weapons and ask you to burn hard-earned Masterwork materials on a weapon that you may only be using for a few hours, just to generate Orbs. That … seemed like a tall order. This, combined with our desire to act on consistent feedback that players want to be able to generate Orbs of Power with Exotic weapons that do not yet have catalysts, led us to the implementation we’ll be using in The Witch Queen and beyond.
Ok so basically what I gather from this is, is that they are under the assumption that because the new weapon crafting system will exist, that we will be encouraged to craft multiple weapons (debatable). And due to that fact, expending additional resources only for the purpose of generating orbs, to them, is a bad idea.
I do not disagree with that logic because it makes sense. Master working has served little to no purpose outside of a minor bump to a stat, but the main goal being for the additional orbs that you can potentially generate.
Expending what is basically nothing for the power of orb generation has been something we have all enjoyed to some degree but it's not actually DONE SOMETHING for weapons themselves, which hopefully they make changes to.
Where I feel like they missed the mark so unbelievably bad, is that it's not just one mod and your done, they will be making MULTIPLE to produce the same effect we had before for a non intrusive cheap cost of masterwork materials, all in an effort to not demand masterworking for an effect.
But this logic is backwards because helmets are over saturated with some of the most valuable mods we can use and putting ANOTHER useful mod into the selection just to avoid the "tall order" of masterworking, is stupid.
This change wouldn't necessarily be as bad if we got any real details, but as always we get nothing more than vague wording and "look forward to witch queen, you'll get to see this new -blam!-" as the community is in flames about how stupid the change seems.
I just don't get it personally. On top of being vague as to how the mods will function (cost wise, #, etc) we don't even have any sort of understanding as to why they are doing it. Cause to me, I've never given a crap that exotics couldn't generate orbs, because that's not what I was using them for, but they are making this big sweeping change for a minority of weapons, of which most of us don't even use for orbs specifically, and putting these mods on the most saturated armor piece we've got?
Like...what is that reasoning?
I watched aztecrosses video on the topic and he alluded to a potential "weapons 3.0" due to what was described in his video (weapon memory limit causing perk limitations, which removing orb generation may open up) and if that's the case then great. And in that video he reminded me of bungie's statement about differentiating weapons which is something also that sounds great. But do we have any details on that, no. Do we know when we will get details for that, no. So do we have any clear indication that THIS change will lead to THAT change, no we do not.
And so it's up to our interpretation, which a vocal majority appear to be pretty displeased with.
Even with good overall intentions, the implementation just seems very disagreeable no matter how you spin it.
If the goal was to reduce orb generation then why not target that directly?
If the goal is to open weapons up then why not say that?
If the goal is to give masterworking a more useful purpose then why not just say that?
Sometimes they are direct with their intentions and go into detail, but then we get crap like this that gives us no positive way to spin it other than with speculation and potential scenarios.
Please stop releasing information this way.

Honestly would you rather they save the bad news till last and that kills the hype of all the potential good news/ changes for witch queen? Or not tell us at all and we find out when about the changes when it’s already implemented in the game?

Damn you must hate life then... 🤷

Bearbeitet von kellygreen45: 1/16/2022 2:55:32 PMBecause you find it difficult to stay in the present moment. Your imagination has taken off. It’s running through imaginary scenarios of how horrible all this will be based on your knowledge of the current game (to which these changes won’t be applied to)…and you can’t stop it. How you do it is to STOP CATASTROPHIZING. What is spinning around in your head right now isn’t real. It isn’t real because it isn’t based on the reality that will be in place when they go into effect. It isn’t real literally because it hasn’t happened yet. You’re struggling because there is very little in contemporary culture that teaches you that this way of thinking is a problem. Everyone around you does it, especially if you’re young. In fact most of society wants you thinking that way because it makes you easier to predict and easier to manipulate. (Bungie is doing this because making you upset will make you pay closer attention in the lead up to the games release…they they’ll drop the good new, you’ll feel better, and tell them how great all this is…..modern marketing) How do you wait? Simple. Don’t. Realize that what is being put in front of you isn’t real. The changes aren’t being made to the game as you are now playing it. It’s being made to a game you haven’t played yet. If your mind starts spinning out “what if” scenarios? Don’t turn away and left it run off. Reel it in and ANSWER the question. If it nerfs orb generation? You’ll find a more efficient way to play like you always do when something gets nerfed. You’ll adapt. What the anxious, fearful mind doesn’t realize is that you’ll survive everything that happens to you except ONE thing….and that the only things that are matters of life-and-death…. ….are matters of life-and-death. And this isn’t one of them. No matter what happens here. Everyone will get up. Go home. And get on with their lives. Tell that part of your mind to calm down, and face the fear. ”I will not give in to fear. Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death that leads to total obliteration. I will let the fear pass over me and through me and when it is gone I will turn and look at the path that it has taken…. …and only I will remain.” Fear is your servant. Not your master. When you face fear with the understanding of what it is and don’t buy into the story it’s telling you? It goes away. If you try to run away from it, or feed that story emotional energy by believing it? It persists…and it gets bigger. Stop believing the story you’re telling yourself about this. It isn’t true.

I think everyone has figured out that this is a de facto nerf to charged with light, because for some reason they actually hate useful mods
-
I think weapon crafting is designed to be the new end game content. After we complete the campaign the only thing to do will be to run the same strikes, pvp maps, patrols etc that we've been running for the last few years to grind for the materials for this crafting system. Maybe Eververse will sell something to help with the grind for materials, ha ha.

I have so many Masterwork materials I could Masterwork every weapon I got and dismantle them.

Bearbeitet von Double07: 1/18/2022 8:46:06 PMBungie, at the very least, should have made a legit attempt at establishing a proper, simple communication with its everyday players before pushing in a change to something that is the opposite of broken. Moreover, it shouldn’t be that hard for a individual, let alone the company responsible for its product, to be in the shoes of its players. Destiny 2 has been terrible, many times, purely because of this. Also, it’s neglectful to place the blame on their bad relationship with their players. It’s a cheap excuse for corporations at this point. What I want to see from now on: 1. Bungie should put the orb mod in the ghost shell, not the head . 2. Directly respond to your forum users like DE, to let them that they do have the right idea, and that your update has missed that idea .

Weapon memory you say? Maybe if they got rid of some absolute garbage perks it might free up some of this memory. After the abilities nerf, surplus comes straight to mind.
-
Ill tell you how happy I am with the orb change. Witch Queen pre order canceled!
-
Wish we could go back in time. When people would just play a video game. It’s not life changing. It’s a damn game.
-
Finally, a post that accurately covers the orbs problem in a way that I agree with.
-
i normally want to test out several weapons, try to find the one that i like and then i stick with that loadout for eternity or until a situation comes along that requires a different loadout. i could, perfectly happy, still use the loadout from destiny 1 year 1 .. and it would not bother me in the slightest. my expectations for "new content" is outside my loadout in the expanding world around me , the story the lore, new npc, new enemies, new areas, new modes, new everything, apart from my loadout.
-
Bungie is a liar, they always have been. I wouldn’t call that news
-
Said the same thing, I don't like surprises or vagueness tell me what I need to know and I need to know all the details instead of being blindsided.
-
I think azz's video was pretty good. Some other speculation.... We are constantly drip fed info to keep us talking and posting. Any discussion on destiny anywhere is free advertising. Keeps the YouTubers fed and the ideas, which may or may not be Bungies, good or bad out there. We were "given a glimpse" of a newer version of armor with an extra slot. Which in fact may be normal obtainable gear in other forms going forward. We also have no idea just yet if the orb generation mods will cost 1,3,5 maybe even a seasonal mod for orbs. I like the idea of slotting my seasonal mod at the end and leaving 3 spaces after ability slots for whatever. Especially if the orb mod cost is 1. I'm kinda on the fence with this till we know more. I'm expecting the UI to be cleaned up, collections for weapons to change, and hope to see more stack limits on consumables.

This method should seem familiar to everyone. Release something that could be worked into something semi-decent. Mess it up, then when the community has finally called it quits, make a hot fix or even twab saying how they either reverted it or will change it to make it more viable and that they are,"working hard" to give the best experience, then nerf something...maybe a weapon or weapon class that is a little too over used and then release a new ornament for a weapon while promoting a new emblem for,[insert generic first world problem] and boom, rinse and repeate till the next season and then we circle around to do it again.
-
Here's the good news if you haven't bought witch queen yet like me. Horizon Forbidden West comes out a few days before it, & Elden Ring comes out a few days after iirc.
-
I’m used to Bungie nerfing how optimal our builds can be. It will always swing back and forth. I’m sure we will all be using a loadout next expansion that works well in that sandbox, but still orb mods shouldn’t go on the helmet that’s the only thing that really bothers me.
-
Never relied on orbs for supers anyways, mods like hands on and ashes to assets were far more superior for me when it comes to super regen then orbs ever were.
-
I suppose you missed that part about "play your way" Yes, that was sarcasm.
-
They always do this just before a release. They hype up all the cool stuff coming then we find out about a change that pisses everyone off. Ppl complain, the dlc is released, ppl adapt and eventually stop complaining. Rinse and repeat next yr.
-
You have to pass the bill first to see what’s in it . I mean c’mon
-
The only thing other than the elemental aspect of it (one mod should cover EVERY weapon for the orbs) is them basically twisting it like it is what we asked for. No Bungie, it really is NOT what we -blam!- asked for. Don't treat it like it is. I'll take an orb mod, I'll take an orb mod on the helmet, I'll take a relatively expensive orb mod on the helmet. DO NOT MAKE IT A SPECIFIC ELEMENT FOR THAT ORB MOD!
-
What makes me think why bungie is making weapon crafting so expensive is to balance out other weapon obtainment methods and so crafting isn’t overpowered
-
Bearbeitet von Corrick II: 1/16/2022 5:39:02 PMWhat still confuses me is that part of the rationale is because players wanted catalysts for exotics that didn’t have them… … so instead of simply introducing those catalysts, they come up with this over-complicated nonsense. Bungie never ceases to amaze.
