As the title mentions I'd love to see some logical justifications on why swords are being nerfed in PVE. I personally can't see the logic in this decision. The fact that 65% of the players use words in PVE ISN'T a bad thing because each player should be able to dictate what they want to play with. its their character, their playstyle and ultimately their enjoyment that matters.
So why does it feel to me that Bungie is intentionally nerfing swords to give players more of a reason to play with buffed rocket launchers again? Ever since sunsetting became a thing I've never felt that Bungie wants us to play as we want to play. So I'm asking the community to justify this change, Make it make sense to me.
each player should be able to dictate what they want to play with
I would guess that that's the main reason for the nerf. Right now, in most encounters, if you can use a sword and you're not, you're essentially handicapping yourself. The change seems intended to make it so choosing a power weapon is actually a choice, as opposed as having the choice made for you because one weapon type is so much better than the others. We'll see if it actually works out that way.

The nerf just made all swords even more irrelevant. The logical thing would’ve been to make Lament ONLY have the nerf since Guillotine and Lament are the only good swords and Guillotine is fairly balanced.

Because Bungie can’t be bothered to make content a little more difficult. Besides doesn’t it get old and boring melting every single enemy/boss you encounter?
