[i]Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss[/i] is perfect. It's simultaneously a standalone adventure and connected to the base story. It has everything great about DS itself, with none of the issues. It's like a microcosm of everything great about DS. Masterful world design. Masterful boss design and characters. Beautifully dark and creepy aesthetic design. Beautiful music and sound design. An excellent story. Full of great surprises. Honourable mention is [i]Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court[/i] with its terrifying monsters, and a new mechanic in the form of vampirism which masterfully enhances the already flawless gameplay mechanics in the base game. Visually and narratively stunning. Only thing that drags it down to second place is that, like all roguelikes, I'm never going to be skilled enough to actually finish it.
