My old fiance, back in those days, I thought was a sweet fruit.. ..but as I peeled the apple.. I realized she was rotten to the core. I forget if we ever got those rings, but there's a lot I had to forget to move on. Silver-lining: I have found much better relationships, which were free of toxicity. [spoiler]However my last love is still in Texas, (during the season if the Drifter) I was still working my ass off and homeless, she was with me through all of it.. a brilliant mind that I got to experience and help get through her third year of college. Halfway through a study session up on the 7th floor of a library, she lost her term study guide a day before the exam, and her friend left mad. It wasn't her fault, a caretaker had mistaken it for trash. I encouraged her that she could do it, that one last time we would go over it all. She was upset, feeling that if she knew just the answers, she wasn't learning the material. Again, I felt like she needed to see the bigger picture to find the light. So I told her she was right, but that this information will always be available for her to study further. That to ace that test was merely for the books that she could retain it in a time period. That all jobs are different, and as long as you know most the answers in your field after training, everything else comes with experience. Elizabeth aced the shit out of that exam. She went on a trip to see family in Mexico and out to New York to see the ball drop. I kept working days and slept through cold, cold nights living out of my little sedan. I got sick, and retreated back to Florida for Christmas with family. Then my transmission didn't want to go anymore. I have been stuck here ever since. I've let her go, and managed to mend the older wounds with her help. I was just dead weight to Elizabeth.[/spoiler] I'm just kind of alone, now.. ..but in a better place than I was years ago.
