Trouble with cross save data
There seems to be an issue with my steam account as when I try to sign in with the username that's "linked" to my steam account it doesn't even exist. When I try to unlink the cross save it says I need to verify the account but steam says it doesn't exist and isn't linked to any account so I can't link my actual steam account to my Xbox save. I would like to remove the current steam account "adnernochez" which doesn't exist and replace it with my actual account Jim Tanning.

The Steam account linked to your Bungie profile is lacking a Steam Community Profile page, indicating that it is a new account that has not been fully activated. This generally occurs when a user inputs incorrect login info while attempting to link their account, causing Steam’s system to instead create a brand new account. You will need to work with Steam support to recover the login info for this linked account, so that you can proceed with deactivating cross-save, and unlinking the account. Bungie staff cannot remove the account for you, as they do not have access to the private login credentials of user platform accounts. Simply contact Steam support, and request assistance with recovering the Steam account. There is no need to mention anything regarding Bungie, Destiny, or cross-save, when making the request, as it may cause the support staff to misunderstand what is actually needed. Looking at your profile you only have one account (adnernochez) so it is not possible to unlink that one.

The authentication system is a security feature and Bungie will not step in to bypass it for you. Note.. to cross save with any account those accounts had to be authenticated in the first place so a non existent account is not possible.
